The mohawk is someone's tail. It's the 'trophy' from one of the various fights she's beenΒ in, which escalated to a death match and she won (perfectly normal in canid society).
He tail is partially bald because she's a mutant, so her alternate form isn't dog or cat like; it's just some random mutant creature, and her tail is supposed to be something along the lines or a boar or bovine tail.

Mutants in their world are basically just have weird combinations of non-human traits, unlike canids and felidis where the animal traits are clearly mostly dog/cat like, theirs can be that of something that just doesn't occur within a high enough population to form its own gene pool, or they may just be a hodgepodge of things that can't be defined. There are natural mutants and ones that resulted through experimentation in the early days of the discovery of shapeshifters. Arkina is a decedent of experimental mutants, she herself was never experimented on, but her ancestors, whomever they were, were altered with by unnatural means at least a generation or two before her.

Ohhh, that makes a lot of sense actually, just small pockets of "others" that dont really belong to anything but the story arc. This is all fascinating! I cant wait for this to grow!

At first, I thought she was a lesbian or bi, because of the way she looks, but now...we just don't know if she's up for a relationship to some other guys/gals or not. But anyways, she's cool β€

She probably would lean more towards girls, if she weren't such a misanthrope; I have a hard time seeing her ever falling for anyone, but especially a guy.

I would like to hear a little bit of her story/backstory soon. Especially Ferri's story/backstory, Requiyen's long lost twin sister, if you have a chance to make one of their stories/backstories. No rush at all, really!

Thank you! I'm glad you like them and I really appreciate feedback about what people want to know about my characters, I tend to lose track of what I have and haven't explained yet XD
Both of them are characters that I have re-worked a lot recently and, at least with what I've got figured out so far, aren't too major until later on timeline-wise. But I'll definitely keep in mind figuring out something I can post about them, at least backstory related :3

Both and "scales", too. The grey round spots on her arms are basically hard, bony, scale-like things. She has the same blotchy spots as most my characters, around her eyes, on her forearms,etc. and freckles on her face.
