Hans and Cinder had successfully trapped, and beaten the Unlikely Band's couple, X-23 and Ghost Rider, and now danced as the Cathedral they did battle in burned around them.

Laura lay lying across from Ghost Rider on the floor, both pinned with enchanted weapons. However Laura, was still in the enchantment circle Cinder and the other sorceresses had made around her...and was fading the more she gave into how much she blamed herself.

"Laura.." Ghost Rider called across the floor, "Laura! Look at me! Don't close your eyes! Laura! LAURA!!!"

But it was too late, Kinney was adrift in her own mind, like a maelstrom dark, vertigo...the feeling was...eerily similar to the brainwashing technique's used on Weapon-X. Disorientation, deprivation....grasp on reality slipping.

But this was different, this was intimate, this was loss . She'd never had Rider to lose before now...to have let down...

"All my fault..." she shut her eyes.

Suddenly she was plunged deeper into the feeling, and all her numbness went away, replaced by pain that was far to familiar to her...making her ache, making her cry tears she had non to cry.

The Magic of the Witches took hold, now it was Pitch Black's turn.

"Rider?" she called out, "Rider? ...Danny?!"

"You let him down again...." came a melodic, hissing...yet silky voice. "Exactly like you knew you would...."

"No..." she sobbed. "No he can't be dead! He can't!" She looked down at her hands, wet with blood.

"No...." she gasped, she looked down at her feet, jagged bone claws protruded from her feet. "NO!"

"Oh but he can...you let yourself go into a trap...and he followed...all cause you led him on enough to care about you..."

She looked across from her at the dead body of Daniel Ketch, the Ghost Rider, with a trail leading from her dripping claws.

"DANNY!!" She ran for him but her leg and neck and arm were caught like a dog on a chained leash.

The familiar shackles wrestled with her skin, sawing at it, every time she tried pulling against them, only she wasn't snarling ferally this time, she was sobbing.

"That's....ENOUGH!" came a rebuke as she was jolted back onto the ground, making her hit her head on the experimentation floor.

All she heard now was heart monitors, chemicals rushing, screams from the cage wing of the facility, white noise....and the voice from before that proceeded berate her, making her grip her head harder as she shrunk into a ball like she did as a girl.

"Worthless.." it hissed.

"Murderer..."

"Accident!"

"Toxic..."

X-23 just rocked "I didn't mean to , I didn't mean to..." she repeated

"I mean look at yourself...a carbon copy, literally 22 others just like you he could've met....and he had to meet you....what were you thinking? Did you honestly think you could accomplish something like love, for another person...what makes him special? What makes you special enough to deserve it? Did you really think a little spark like him...could light your way out of the issues you have....that you ARE?..."

Laura could tell what it wanted, what she wanted, to give up...desperately...but something else clawed at her from the inside.
