He sails in service of the Queen of Pistrys Empire, long naval rival of the royal Kingdom of Terran (of which Jim Hawkins hails from).

He is a mixture of Shan Yu and our world's Sir Francis Drake, the pirate who pilfers for the cause and honor of his queen, sinking Spanish ships...only in inverse , the Shardakian's who are a anthropomorphic shark-like, Spanish speaking race, he has governed himself to sink the ships of his royal Majesty of Terran for his Shadrakian Queen Izabella...

..and now is on the verge of uncovering the ULTIMATE weapon, a cursed treasure from a Forbidden World, the Treacharatus.

From an ancient civilization, presumably the same that constructed Treasure Planet, the Treacharatus is said to hold the power of immortality itself, and wishes to harness this for the Kingdom of Shardak, and bring Terran to it's knees.

Captain Bantonia is a ruthless, but impeccably intelligent strategist, and a ferocious duelist , utilizing his tail for his namesake with a sharpened thrasher barb as a third blade to use in combat with his twin rapier's.

...He is also the one who took Long John Silver body...rendering him a cyborg in search of the same treasure...while he himself was only left with a slit across his chest and face.

He is voiced by Benicio del Toro.
