As promised here is my tutorial of the dark rays effect for terragen. It's pretty basic I think really... But come on it's my first ever tutorial for crying out loud! >_< Oh yeah, it's typo heaven in there too... so go easy pleaseAlso I need to make an ammendment, when I say increase the size of the sky to 1,000 I really meant 10,000... oops, ony a difference of ten times the size

It worked fine for me... I don't know what the problem was for other people. Actually, I have to thank you most for helping me with regular sunbeams, not black ones. I often try to do sunbeams, and give up almost as often. My most recent picture was an exception, but I usually have trouble with sunbeams. I never tried reducing the exposure, though, so I could never do very strong sunlight. Thanks!

atmos quality? Not a setting most newbies would figure out.
I did learn a great deal tonight and plan to use on my current project.
See next render, hopefully anyhoo!

well if the newbies can't figure it out then I think its safe to say we're all doomed when TG2 comes out, cause then we'll all be noobs again

And that is what I am worried about.
It is a much more complicated program.
It uses a world machine like interface on some parts and a photoshop image input's type.
Can you image the confusion from that? I fear the worst.

Yeah, I was really wondering when you said you increased the sky size to 1000... That was just... Wrong...
I gotta ask, though - how do you make pyramids?

onesixone In reply to Ariades [2006-11-30 22:57:12 +0000 UTC]
I made that pyramid with a program called World Machine... You can probably find it by google-ing for it, its a little hard to get your head around but it can create some nice terragen maps. In that program I used the "radial gradient" tool but in its options turned it into a "diamond tool." And that's how you make pyramids In my image there were steps though, to get those you have to add a terrace.

I already have WorldMachine... I just don't use it I downloaded several terrain generators, and ended up using TerraFormer
But thanks for the advice, though. I've been meaning to have a closer look at the programs' individual abilities.
