Murdoch it a br standard class 9f number 92173 built at Crewe in 1958 after he was built Murdoch was send to the lickey incline to along side Big Bertha before Murdoch British railway try the same experiment with 92079 or Jeremy by his siblings but while Jeremy work well it was founded that he was prone to wheel slip and struggle to push trains up hill so Jeremy was removed from being a banker and pull freight trains afterward.
Murdoch after founding that Bertha was going to be scraped he was really sad Murdoch it always quiet and talk gently and slowly after his work on the lickey he returns to pulling freight trains he was originally going to be repainted into br green after rescue a passenger train and manage to arrive early
However the engine that supposed to deliver the paint had crashed and the only paint they have is light orange and green and red lining after that the other engines tease him and won't let him stayed in the shed calling him squash fruit, orange monster, and most insulting one giant kettle but passenger liked him he was gentle work well and didn't complain about his work getting the Murdoch
After modernization plan he was saved by the north western railway he pulled heavy goods train along the mainline
After the Tidmouth Container Yard was opened it was planned that Murdoch it going to work there but he was to heavy for the rails on that section so instead they go with Peter.
