Scarlet turned to look down at Raven.

"Jeez, look both ways, kid," Scarlet scolded with a sigh. Raven stared in amazement at the powerful woman before her. She had saved her life.

"Raven!" shouted a voice turning Raven to see a young woman running up to her. "Are you OK?" she asked as she approached her.

"I'm fine, Meika," Raven replied. "Thanks to...," she added, but trailed off when she turned to find that Scarlet was gone, "her?" She frowned as she looked around for Scarlet but found no sign of her.

"Let's go home," Meika said. Raven nodded and she followed Meika along the sidewalk, casting one final glance behind her. I didn't get to thank her, she thought, or get her name. The scene faded as darkness filled Raven's mind again. I didn't see her again for almost ten years.
