Description A Collaboration with the wonderful !
It's sequel to this, done by her --> [link]
I wrote a short story with her permission(found below), my interpretation of what might have happened next,
She picked that she wanted me to draw, and I sketched this --> [link]
..and she colored it!
This was definitely a lot of fun...thanks *foxikun!
Don't forget to favorite and comment on her submission of this, she deserves your praise!:[link]

Her eyes stared upward, penetrated through the boiling clouds and ripped at the sun. Hiccup pinched them open a little wider, waved his hand wildly across Astrid’s gaze.
“Stay with me Astrid! Can you see me?”
She lay a moment, motionless, except for the staggering rise and fall of her breaths.
The boy’s head whipped around in frantic jerks as he surveyed the edge of the forest. His hands now combed the hair from the girl’s damp forehead, caressed her ashen face.

The sky looked so still, despite the usual storm clouds. And it was warm… Blood poured from the arrow, from tears and slices. What just happened here?
The trees rocked and cradled, held Astrid in a fragile smog.
“Astrid, can you move?”
The clouds released her, untangled her from their webs.
“Astrid?”

She lurched forward, cried out, fell back. The image of the boy plunged into her mind, simultaneous to the unpleasant reminder of her injuries.
“Astrid!” Hiccup muttered, relieved. He offered a hand, hastily slipped his other behind her back.
“Now stay with me. We have to get out of here.”
Astrid cuffed him, roughly grasped the front of his shirt.
Hiccup dropped her in surprise, fell on the girl as she dragged him down. She grimaced loudly, then pushed the boy off.
“What are you doing?” she hissed. Hiccup narrowed his eyes, approached her again.
“Gods, Astrid! What-”
Astrid dragged herself away from him, streaking the grass with blood.
“They have Toothless!”
Astrid shot her eyes at him, shocked at his despicable ignorance. Hiccup just pursed his lips and caught her legs, dragged her back to him.
“Let go… Follow them! Coward!” The girl kicked weakly, breathing uneasily as more blood escaped her.

Hiccup’s pain in losing his friend was nothing short of Astrid’s pain; Hiccup hated and believed it. Knowing that the girl could die - despite her beliefs in her own endurance - he needed to take her to a healer. And Toothless… The thought of what the intruders could do to him gnawed and tore his insides, tightened around his throat…

“You know that I couldn’t handle all of them by myself.” Hiccup whispered, nervously peering above the bank, then turning back, watching red follow the flow of the river.
“I would’ve been killed, you … left to die, or found and killed… Toothless: gone.”
Astrid lay at the water’s edge, not resisting the boy’s attempts to wash her wounds. An eerie hush had fallen over her; adrenaline gone, she was left with no strength for retorts or the will to fight the agonizing pain.
“How did you manage to get hit by an arrow and cut up by swords?” Hiccup sighed miserably, abruptly stopping to cradle his head in his hands. Astrid coughed and groaned, reached for his knee and shook it.
“You can’t stay… out here.” She breathed.
The boy softly raised his head and looked at her, then turned to peer over the bank again.

The healer woman clicked her tongue.
“If only these godforsaken caves were not kept so dark!”
Of course, this was a burden that was to be kept. A glowing cave mouth was beyond suspicious.
The Elder, Gothi, knowledge in some forms of healing, had remained closer to the village to tend Vikings hurt from the battling tribe. Another bold, crotchety healer, Var, had agreed to stay with Hiccup and Toothless while tending to any other wounded that straggled from the village.
Once a small torch was passed to her, the woman squinted at Astrid, clicked again.
Suddenly, a worried Deadly Nadder, hunched low in the tight hollow, crept beside his master and released a low growl. Astrid opened her eyes and tenderly reached for her dragon, who in turn nuzzled her palm.
“When did you get here?” the girl crooned.
“Here,” The healer produced a large clay jar, “drink this broth.”
Hiccup slipped away at the distraction of the loyal beast.

Coming to village edge, the boy cold hear the roar of inferno sweep through the paths, burning the huts and squawking livestock. The pirates had left its grounds; no business left there.
They knew that Hiccup would bite their bait.
Unknowns to them, though, he would race at the seas with a counter army.
