Description
Previous: Lagoon Battle
Next: Stand Your Ground
Today I was a little on edge. My eyes kept on darting to every little sound I heard. It was silly, I knew nothing actually dangerous ever happened at the Shallow Lagoons. But still I was on full alert, keen on not messing up. Aravali had left me in charge this morning because he had some other business to attend to. This was the first time I'd be managing the Region on my own for a large part of the day. I really wanted to show Aravali I could be trusted to do this. I looked over at the young foals rolling and playing around in the shallow water a little further away. I only needed to keep them from drowning and then I'd be good. Simple as that. I chuckled as one of the foals stumbled and rolled over in the water only to come back up laughing.
The morning went by rather uneventful. Some foals joined the game and others left to go back to the Mainland. Some girls came around to ask about Aravali's whereabouts but seemed to be up for a chat with me as well when I told them he wasn't around. I wasn't very good with talking to girls I'd found out. I wasn't good with talking to anyone well but with girls I often messed up even more. They asked so many questions I couldn't answer, I was often grateful when Aravali chimed in and took over. I knew they meant well but I was still learning to behave properly in social situations. The girls hadn't stayed long today, probably because it was just me. To be honest I couldn't be bothered about it.
It was almost noon now, almost time for Aravali to come back. Since the weather wasn't great it was rather quiet. Only three foals remained appearing to play a game of tag. Every once in a while they would ask me to join as I sometimes did but I couldn't afford it today. To my dismay, I loved playing with those little ones. My eyes scanned the horizon once more and to my surprise I saw a horse coming this way in the distance. It was too far away to tell if it was a stranger or someone I knew. It wasn't unheard of for strangers to come visit the herd for a while. The Azzimato herd was known as an open herd where one could rest their legs for a while if needed. Now that this stranger came closer I was getting a little nervous. The stallion, it appeared, walked with purpose, head low his steps confident. He didn't quite give off a friendly, innocent feeling with his towering height and drafty build. As the stranger closed in he didn't lower his speed and seemed set on just walking right on through into Azzimato territory. I glanced back over my shoulder to see if Aravali had magically appeared behind me but alas. With a short intake of breath I forced myself to step into the stallion's way. Maybe my senses were a bit off. "Good morning", I said, my voice friendly but making it obvious I wanted him to stop. The stallion came to a halt in front of me, his height truly showing as he dwarfed me in his presence. He didn't reply in words though, only arched an eyebrow wondering why such a puny stallion was in his way. "Do you have any business in the Azzimato herd?" I asked him trying to keep my voice firm and professional. I'd observed Aravali questioning strangers before he let them pass plenty of times. I just hoped being professional was enough in this situation.
The stallion craned his neck and regarded me with a look I couldn't quite pinpoint. "I guess you can call it business", he grinned, his dark eyes gleaming. I gulped, he was obviously suspicious. "As an Azzimato Guardian it is my task to protect this herd. I need you to state your identity and business before I can let you pass", I was really getting nervous now, I just hoped it wasn't too noticeable. At this the stallion laughed. "You're an Azzimato Guardian? Look at you, I could use you as a toothpick", his deep voice was tainted with contempt. I flushed as I grew more aware of the fact that he wasn't taking me seriously at all. "Now step aside boy, I don't have all day", his laughter had died down to be replaced by annoyance. Every part of me wanted to do as he said, knowing that he meant business. I couldn't do that though, I had a herd to protect. I suddenly noticed how quiet it had become. With a jolt in my heart I looked back at the foals who'd stopped playing and now looked at the stallion with fear in their eyes. "Kids go back to the Mainland now", I told them, my voice steady but with urge. Old enough to know danger when they saw it the colts listened to me and turned to leave in a hurry. I turned my attention back to the stallion who seemed to be looking after the foals. "I'm sorry sir but I can't let you pass until you've told me your name and why you're here" I raised my head trying to look a little taller. I don't think it worked. Something flickered in his eyes before he furrowed his brows. "My patience is wearing thin kid. Get out of my way before you get hurt. Now", he threatened his last word deformed into a growl. I shuddered but stayed put. "Maybe it's better if you leave now", I told him trying to sound convincing. The stallion laughed loudly looking down on me. "Okay that's it, I've been patient enough", his voice still sounded like laughter. There was absolutely no part of him that seemed to think I was going to be any trouble. And to be honest I was starting to think the same. His shadow spread over me as the massive stallion reared up before me blocking out the sunlight that filtered through the clouds. This was it.
To be continued...
Ooh Look at that an actual cliffhanger in the story of Aravali aan Woo Boost?
Little Woo Boost has found himself in a tight spot! How will it end? You'll find out soon since I've already written out the next part
But until then I hope you can enjoy a little suspense in an otherwise happy and bright story
So my second try at animation I can not tell you the amount of hours this small animation took me
Seriously I think I might be doing something terribly wrong for something like this to take so long. So many layers
But it turned out almost exactly how I envisioned it so that's a plus It was a good practice for my expressions as well.
I quite like it and I hope you guys will too, I would love to hear what you think! Also feedback on the animation is welcome c:

Dankjewel!
Ja ik had de keuze tussen .1 en .2 en vond .1 te snel. Nu heb ik ze handmatig naar .15 veranderd, is het nu beter? c:
