Description     Hunting is not a bad thing, but there should always be conservation to balance things out. When only the large members of a population are harvested it leaves the smaller specimens to reproduce in their place causing a species to shrink over time. This was a very prevalent phenomenon with fish, where in North American catfish the current record holding fish appear to have been commonplace in the 1800s (going off of unverified, but reported measurements of course).

It really sucks that people keep killing off bigger animals including gators, whales, bears, and many more.

I've heard that elephant tusks have been getting shorter for the same reason.

This makes me wish alligators could be left alone long enough to reach their old sizes again.

But there’s a video which will prove you wrong, that alligators of huge sizes of maybe 5 m or more still exist...so how could a gator be huge enough to tackle prey as big and heavy as this? youtu.be/FzFR2I3TKyk

I'm pretty sure it would require reintroduction of the genes that made them large to begin with.
A better solution as well would be to limit harvest.
