I did make mention of putting up reference images for as of yet unseen characters. (Minor characters, yes, but they've still got a role to play.
) Here is the long awaited (for me) colored design for King Orstad. For those of you interested in the contest I'm hosting, you may be interested in this. Maybe... That's a big stretch. (You can check my most recent journal entry for more info.)At this point in the novel, it's not entirely necessary for me to give his life story, as he's a flat character. And no, he's not related to my main character, Nharath: They are not from the same tribe. King Orstad's tribe is situated much further north, in this alternative universe's Sweden, as it were.
But I suppose most of you might be confused between the two, what with the blonde and the wild hair and all. 
Compare their faces and proportions and they look nothing alike, I promise.Ahem. To wrap this up, I'm ashamed to be submitting more character studies as opposed to more tasteful, illustrative work with backgrounds. But here it all the same, and now it's out of my head!

I like it when you draw Pallanophs with distinct equine features, I'm not too fond of the canid-like ones. But this one is cool.

His color reminds me of my dog when she is in full coat. She a golden retriever chow chow mix and I think shes got a little german shepherd in her too. ><; Mutt. Beautiful art though and maybe when winter rolls around again I will get a photo of Terra's coat.

I seem to have misplaced the photos I was looking for but I uploaded a photo of her in her lion cut for the summer. [link] When she has her full coat her hair is the length of her mane all over.

^_^ Thanks, I love her to bits. When cold weather rolls around again I will get some photos of hair when it is natural. It just gets too hot around here for her to keep a long coat during summer.

Hey, I'm just slightly taller than he is! O.o Well, at his shoulder height, anyway.
I love how blonde he is. If I remember right, Nharath was just a tad more sepia-ish. I like the dark markings, too. He definitely looks royal.

Yep! Nharath is darker, and a bit more on the warm brown side. And it's his coloring that is an odd genetic throwback to his northern ancestors.

That is pretty cool. Do the two characters ever meet, or does anyone get confused between them? O.o

The two characters never manage to meet, (sad day!) but given that most of the Skirdet are of varying ash/blonde/gold/cream shades, it's still possible he might get lost amongst them, haha. (Or at least, he might be hard to separate from the others with a human's eyes.)

Just curious, do pallanophs live alongside humans in our world, or is this a world you constructed? Just kind of confused since there are Chinese, Russian, Irish and other pallanoph variations XD

I love his regal head carriage and imposing stance, and I must say that you've coloured him rather beautifully.

I used to have a surprisingly hard time at making this particular type look imposing, so I'm glad it came out this time around. He is an individual with authority, after all...

Your fur detail, proportions, paws never cease to amaze me.

I like the flow of the fur on the skin, the highlights make it seem so light and whispy

I love the fur and all the golden/light shades on it <3 For the millionth time, you don't need to be ashamed of sharing refs and such, because you always tell about the character etc with it

Now I'm worried that more than one "blonde" character is too many... 
I guess I don't spam nearly as often as I used to. And even if my work lacks background more than ever these days, at least the pallanophs are becoming more realistic and believable? 
Oh, and while I'm chatting here, I'll tell you I've just redrawn the final pencils for your commission for the third time... I gave up on trying to make the image fit, so just got out some larger paper. BONUS! Because at the rate I'm going, you should probably be getting a mural. If I'm lucky, I'll be getting to the real painting this weekend. MUST... DO. *determined stance*

Ah yes, those adjustments for Nharath... they're not too drastic, only I was hoping for a "happy medium" for the length of his mane. I'm drawing up some better references of him now, as his face has also shifted just a bit. Hopefully I can have them finished and uploaded soon! (Along with proper drawings of Adelaide.)
