Description A tutorial on how to fold these nifty hearts with wings. Its not too hard and I think the pictures are detailed enough for a beginner to try and tackle it.

Have fun! and let me know if I should make edits!

:: I added arrows to the tutorial so maybe that will help those of you with questions

::note2:: I think most of you who have problems with step 11 are due to that you might not understand "reverse fold" in step 9. When you fold the white over the heart, you create a flap. You're going to fold that white flap back to the original position, BUT fold it behind the heart. To do this, you have to change the diagonal fold at the bottom of the flap so it turns itself inside out. It reverses itself. The crease goes from \/ to /\ . Hope that helps

::note3:: Thanks ~crimson-ryu for identifying that the model is created by Francis Ow, an origami master from Singapore. He specializes in heart folds and is pretty cool. See his website here: [link]

PLEASE CREDIT this tutorial if you make something with it. That way we all learn and give credit back to Francis Ow, who works really hard on these!

Between steps four and five. How did a rectangle turn into a triangle?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

pandacub143 In reply to BlackBlossomJewelry [2012-10-12 01:16:23 +0000 UTC]

Step 4 you have a rectangle
Take the bottom right corner of the rectangle and fold it up so the side edge matches the top, and the bottom edge now marks the middle of the rectangle. Does that help?

This is the most recent picture I have of the hearts I have made thanks to this tutorial.
I have made somewhere over 5000 hearts, but I gave a lot of them out on valentine's day so that left somewhere around 3500.
I can't find my damn camera to upload a picture of all of them >_<

Awsome. I am just starting origami. I got as far as "thinking". I want to work up to using it on metal clay. I'll post when I've completed acceptable piece. Really appreciate the start.

Making a whole bunch of them out of post-it notes for my boyfriend (: The wing folding part's a little tricky because of the small paper size but it's turning out pretty awesome thanks for the tutorial!

Try it again with a friend - its not hard - you just flip it over and fold the bottom right corner up and to the middle.

lol yes after 30 seconds I posted that, I figured it out
I did one with the metallic paper that comes with some chocolates (turin)... the heart is golden and the wings are silver!
looks magnificent! but it's really fragile... it was hard, but worth it!
