Description Fact: ponies are machine-washable.

Part One:

Part Two:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There you have it, folks! Can't imagine what revenge Sweetie Belle will want to exact (feel free to note/comment me some suggestions, heheh).

I had to do some sleuthing to guess the layout of Rarity's hallway. It's still a guess. From the frame's perspective, the washroom is pictured directly ahead, the main 'boutique' (where all the magic happens?) and work room is off to the right, round the corner. Behind and to the left is the entrance to the kitchen, and directly to the left is the stairs to upper floors, and beyond them, the side door to the outside world.

I'm really rather happy with the visuals in the hallway scene. These are probably my favourite frames of the series!

I shouldn't need to say it, but MLP:FiM is copyright Hasbro, these stupid comics are not affiliated in any way, yadda yadda, you all know it already.

Doesn't really have to taste like meat. After all, Sausages come in many varieties.

Also there's the fact that apparently, they have ham sammies in Equestria (its in the "bird in hoof episode when applejack can't decide what to eat).

I favorited all three parts but waited till the last part before actually commenting.

This was hilarious beyond belief. I love the way you did this. Every aspect is phenomenal, from the use of the fonts to the melty speech bubble of Rarity's, her reaction...not even the fact that they don't actually have a washing machine like that is going to deter me from finding this comic hysterical.

I cannot wait to see more comics from you, Parallax.

Thank you muchly! I love precision feedback, haha. Let's me know what's right and wrong!

Quite a few have been getting caught up in the gross factual inaccuracies (tampons (?!), washing machines, sausages, etc)... Which I expected, hehe. Still, it's nice to know the imagery itself and the steps taken to make it are appreciated!

I'm shifting focus a little towards animations right now, but yes, more comics to come too!

Well, I will admit that I do tend to be a little irked when pieces of technology that clearly do not exist in the show, or other conveniences, etc, appear in fanfics or comics without an appropriate explanation, but I can easily get past that if the comic or story is good enough.

This comic? More than good enough, to say the absolute least.

I'm... sorry? You're welcome? Uh, thanks?

Yes, they are delightfully controversial. Bit of a Marmite of comics, this series. Plenty will like them. Plenty can't/won't see past the various obstacles these comics throw up - be it the innuendos, getting caught in the finicky details (uh.. tampons?/wouldn't washing machines be dangerous?), or just the general humour not being to their taste.

Which is fine, of course! This is turning out to be a very interesting experiment, haha.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

StrangerNoise In reply to ParallaxMLP [2012-02-14 11:48:09 +0000 UTC]

You know, my only problem with the "by celestia's sweaty tampon" joke (which was almighty btw) is that these being ponies presumably they have an estrus rather than menstrual cycle. And that probably includes Celestia. And of course raises its own possibilities for bad-taste humour.

I overthink. Sorry.

(Came back to read comic again; still laughing like a drain at poor sweetiebelle at the end.)

Maddog3060 In reply to ParallaxMLP [2012-02-14 10:26:46 +0000 UTC]

Ah, no, I can definitely see past the issues to the humor. The terrible, terrible, wonderful humor. XD

So when's Applebloom going to throw herself off of a mountain? I can so see that happening when Rarity tells Applejack about the whole affair and AJ has to give "the talk" to her little sister. After she beats the crap out of Big Macintosh for havin' that magazine, of course.

Tylendal0 In reply to ParallaxMLP [2012-02-14 19:51:41 +0000 UTC]

This is my favorite type of pony comic... it's completely clean and innocent, but it leaves large, obvious gaps for the readers own mind to fill in the dirty jokes.
If people are having mixed reactions, it's obviously their own interpretation, and nothing you've done.

ParallaxMLP In reply to Tylendal0 [2012-02-14 22:41:30 +0000 UTC]

Insightful! You put it into better words than I could have. Thanks.

No outright swearing, no outright filth or anything. Mere suggestion is definitely more fun to draw and read. Some aren't even sure what the cutie-mark is, haha. May their innocence preserve their souls

Thanks for commenting

Tylendal0 In reply to ParallaxMLP [2012-02-18 08:57:28 +0000 UTC]

It's interesting how blatantly dirty jokes are almost always met with disapproval, but stuff like this is great. If you had removed the censoring (and the humorous, 4th wall breaking *nope*) or even had what was censored look at all suggestive, or had Rarity genuinely swear instead of the hilariously ludicrous line she had, or even showed even a hint of what the magazine contained, it would, for most people, move into disturbing territory, and people like myself would have to shake their heads slowly. Instead, the delivery here makes it a great comic.

Same joke, different delivery = different reaction. Interesting how our minds work.

ParallaxMLP In reply to Tylendal0 [2012-02-18 15:04:57 +0000 UTC]

It is interesting, isn't it?

Part it of might be that because the blanks are filled in by the reader, the thoughts/suggestions are their own, and not someone else's. Since people are naturally inclined to be comfortable with their own thoughts, they don't find it unpleasant.

It's almost like any questionable content is their idea. Similarly, those whose minds just don't work that way won't pick up on it much, or at all.

Then there's the fact that it's genuinely more entertaining to work out what has been implied than it is to have it shoved in front of you anyway. A similar mechanic to how jokes in general work, I guess, but just expanded upon a bit? Hmm.

It's science! Or psychology. Something.

Well, I could go on a rant about what an utterly perfect crowning achievement of humor this is, but I'm tired and hungry. Aside from the humor, I think Sweetie Belle's twisty text bubble while she is in the washer is wonderfully unique. I wish more people would think outside the box like that... or inside the chimney, whatever works.

make apple bloom think she's adopted and her real parents were from the royal family like she's Princess Celestia's illegitimate daughter.
make scataloo think she's actually turning into a chicken and needs to shave herself bald and pluck out her feathers on her wings to prevent it.
