I like to think she's just unconscious. Maybe she'll take the hint when she wakes up.Not gonna lie, people... I reeeally want to call her "Plusenta".
OK, this was just to vent a little frustration. Just a quick one! God damnit, YouTube is screwed up these days. You know I wouldn't even mind so much (don't really post many videos or comments) except for the friggin' dialogue box that pops up asking me whether this time I maybe wanna sign in with my real name instead of my alias account.
NO. I DO NOT. STOP IT. STOP ASKING.
WHERE is the checkbox saying "Never ask me this question again, die dialogue box, die, I hate you."?
I actually rather like Google+ ON ITS OWN but this integration has been very badly handled... and really would want to minimise use of my real name online anyway. You know, as common sense dictates?!!

It's quite annoying since my youtube account with my videos is on my alias, and not on my google+ account. and sometimes it'll log me into my google+ account without telling me and I can't find my videos before realizing I'm on a different account

and then sometime's I'll subscribe or like a video on one account and can't remember which later and can't find it either!

And yet none of these are properly legitimate complaints.
That one about it asking which account to use comes close to being one, but it's a minor nuisance at best.

It's that dialogue box which gets me. The rest doesn't really affect me - but I disagree, I think these are perfectly legitimate complaints! The threaded messaging system is a worthwhile improvement, but the other problems it brings offset its usefulness. There are plenty of videos from channels frustrated with how they can no longer connect with their audience effectively because the changes add extra awkward steps in finding and replying to comments. Not to mention all the abuse the new comment system is experiencing; giant ASCII penises, swastikas, links to viruses, people spoofing false G+ names and completely undermining the point of the "use your real name" mantra... the list goes on and on!

First of all, no. None of that is a legitimate complaint.
The comment system just needs some getting used to. It's true you can no longer tell which of one person's comments is being replied to, but people should not be lazy and specify themselves. if it should be too difficult for others to figure it out that isΒ
As for the abuse? It's a blessing and a curse. I've had issues with not being able to post links properly and the character limit for some time now, and honestly the restrictions on links were easily subverted People should have the common sense to not trust url shorteners when url shorteners are not required.
Oh and the best part about you saying that is you're currently using the Deviantart comment system which just as easily can be abused. In fact before they actually showed shortened urls it was easier to abuse.
Granted, hyperlinked text is also easily abusable and you can do that on DA too.

Uh oh - we may have to agree to disagree on this! These are perfectly legitimate complaints.
If you want to understand the perspective of the complainers (complainees?) more, watch these:

I do agree with you on some points. There is no question that people should try to give new systems a chance and adjust to the new way of doing things. But that isn't the problem here. The problem is the system is broken. It makes it harder to do things, even if you know how those things are done in the new system. Why must the users pick up the slack? That's not lazy users, it's bad design. No "improved" user interface should ever make anything more difficult for the user. If it does... it's not an improvement!
IMHO the character limits are links were not that big a problem for the increased security they brought. But I accept that it could be a nuisance to others. So agree with you on that too - it can be a blessing!
The DA comment system can be abused too, you're right. But it generally isn't abused, so such restrictions aren't necessary. It's certainly nothing like the catastrophe taking place on YouTube at the moment. You've got to build the system to handle the users, not hope the users will comply. If more users started abusing the DA comments you can bet there would be changes!

The youtube comment system is being abused so heavily right now as a result of the backlash. Not to mention the DA comment system has always been better moderated by it's own users.Β
I should not have to speak for the common mentality and age range of the vast majority of youtube users, which is about the same as newgrounds. That said, once people stop lashing out it won't be as big of a problem, but it will still be somewhat of a problem, and not one anyone can really do a thing about.
And yet...
Those people will not care that the system can be abused and because they make up the majority of the users, theirs are the voices that will be heard.
As for those videos: It's a work in progress. Bugs are bound to happen with new changes.
As for the users making new G+ accounts, report them.Β The inbox change does not seem to have happened. At all.
So yea. No legitimate complaints here.

Yeah... we're disagreeing this was, however, an interesting discussion! So thanks for that.
They shouldn't "work in progress" anything - sounds like an excuse, to me... a poor one! They have more than enough resources to test beforehand and roll out a proper, functional system to production servers. YouTube is not in beta and neither is Google+.
Anyway doesn't matter, we won't change each other's minds, I can see I'm sure we can both agree that soon they will fix the bugs and everyone will calm down. Either everyone who hates it will leave or they will eventually stop complaining and put up with the changes - happens every time.

It's not very often people realize how stubborn I am. Trust me, it's lead to many arguments I've not been satisfied with or just pain go sour.
As for people who hate it leaving? It's youtube, they cannot avoid it forever.
Many things can only be found on or are easier to keep track of or find on youtube after all.

So much this.Β I won't even log into YouTube anymore.Β I deleted my Plus account entirely, because they've done nothing but make it worse since it launched, AND ignored my privacy settings on my phone, to auto upload images even with that very clearly turned off.Β Things were fine, and I was happy to use both services, but then they started dicking with me to the extent that I fully expect Google and Apple to be the first terrifying cyberpunk megacorps with governments and armies of their own.

ParallaxMLP In reply to Rhiss [2013-11-13 14:00:39 +0000 UTC]
I wouldn't be surprised if you wind up needing Plus in order to use the next version of Android after 4.4...Β
I mean, it's unlikely. But if it happened, I wouldn't be surprised.
I was happy to use both as well, I just think they smushed them together badly. At least I got to maintain my username (uh... g+/channel name now, I guess) and didn't lose my data (playlists, subs) like some people have. If they could just fix that bastard dialogue box... I mean seriously wtf, I can switch between the YouTube accounts from the menu at the top in like two clicks, why can't I specify a default account??

I think Softfang meant to say if only Google would not screw with the site so much. It's always changing, but many changes seem to be for the worse in many cases (like DASH streaming, which is a complete nightmare, or this new enforced G+ thing, which prior to being enforced was borderline tricking users into agreeing to use their real names and G+ accounts on YouTube).
Don't get me wrong, YouTube wouldn't be where it is today without Google, but you can't deny they handled this one badly!
