Um, help? When I try to make my own group, I keep getting "Sorry, exceeded the limit of groups"...what does that mean? I don't own any other groups, but only help moderate one.

You are currently in an administrative position in three groups. Unsubscribed users can be administrators in three groups and subscribed users can be administrators in ten groups. You will need to drop admin membership in one of the groups or upgrade your account to create your own group.

Is being a group contributor the same thing as being an administrator? Because I only co-administrate one group, but I am a contributor in a few groups.

parallellogic In reply to swandog [2010-01-16 05:05:33 +0000 UTC]

Contributors, Co-Founders and Founders are all considered Administrators. The groups where you take an administrative roll will appear "Groups" drop down below your avatar on your profile page (not the widget - the widget shows all groups where you have membership)

P.S. One more question...all the groups I'm a member of allow me to "contribute art to this gallery" (to "features" or whatever) by just clicking on an image in my gallery and then submitting it. But when I try to do that in my own group, it requires me to upload images from scratch, so I had to just stick all my own art in the group's "faves" instead of in the "features", where I would rather have it. How can I change this setting for myself, as the group founder?

parallellogic In reply to swandog [2010-01-18 00:05:38 +0000 UTC]

~it requires me to upload images from scratch
What do you mean it "requires"? There should be a button in the group's gallery that allows you to "Contribute to this Gallery". If the button is not there (it's enabled by default) it can be re-added by going to the group's Admin Area >> Manage Members >> Founder >> On Gallery, Founder: >> Submissions to "Featured": >> Are Automatically Approved

swandog In reply to parallellogic [2010-01-18 00:18:36 +0000 UTC]

You know when you upload images into your own gallery, you get the page with all the blank fields where you enter an image desc, keywords, and all of that along with having to upload the image itself from your harddrive. Well, that's the same page I get whenever I click "submit art" to my own group (there is no "contribute art" button, but only a "submit" one). I don't want to upload new art to the group from my comp, but rather "contribute art" that's already in my gallery, like I can in all the other groups I'm in (where you get the pop-up window and can simply click on any image from your own gallery, and then click submit). I can't figure out how to change my group's settings to do that. The members of my group seem to be able to do it just fine, but not me and not the contributors, even though the group's settings currently show that anything I and the contributors submit to features is "automatically approved".

parallellogic In reply to swandog [2010-01-18 10:54:25 +0000 UTC]

When you go to your group's Gallery tab and click the "Contribute to this Gallery" button, what options appear in the drop down?

~but not me and not the contributors
By default Contributors cannot submit. To enable submissions by Contributors, go to the Admin Area >> Manage Members >> Contributors >> On Gallery, Contributors: >> Submissions to "Featured": >> Are Subject to Vote...

swandog In reply to parallellogic [2010-01-18 14:01:15 +0000 UTC]

I think I got it figured out now...at least, when I click "submit to this gallery" (it doesn't say "contribute" on that button), it brings up a little menu of two options, to either "submit a new deviation", or "contribute an existing deviation". It wasn't asking me that before, but was only letting me submit a new one when I clicked on it. So my fiddling around with the settings must have fixed it somehow. I also managed to fix it for the contributors. Thanks so much for all your help, though!

is it possible to move a favourite to the Gallery? and vice- versa. Or must it just be removed entirely and resubmitted to the right gallery.? thank you kindly in advance x

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

parallellogic In reply to TazzyDee [2010-01-16 02:27:18 +0000 UTC]

It will need to be removed and re-uploaded - there is no cross porting feature between the favs and the gallery in groups.

first i would like to raise my hat for you!

now i have a question..
now am a founder of some group and i want to add a motto for the group like the one which under the name of any group,, from where i can manage this,
also i want to know from where could i add more keywords for my group??

thanks

Thank you very much, I'm glad you found this useful

~from where i can manage this ... add more keywords
Below and to the right of the group's avatar on the profile page #ArabianART (I presume) there is a tab labeled "Group Info". Clicking it will open a drop down with the group's description and stats. At the top right is a pencil icon that will enable editing. Clicking it will open up an area where you can add more key words (by modifying your "Group Description") or add a motto ("Group Tag Line"). Hope that helps

How can a submission be withdrawn or otherwise removed from the group's gallery once it's been accepted?

If groups are like roach motels - "deviations can get put in a group, but they can't get taken out" - then I'm suddenly much less interested in groups.

~How can a submission be withdrawn or otherwise removed from the group's gallery once it's been accepted?
The admins will need to remove it for the time being. A feature to allow users to remove it themselves is in development.

Sorry if this has been answered... but is there a way to set a custom deviations no./deviant/time unit? if there are a lot of members it's pretty hard or even impossible to remember or check if one deviant has reached the submissions limit for the certain period of time...

I just couldn't find out how to and I hoep you can help me.

Group notes cannot be deleted (much like Conversations and Announcements cannot be deleted). They can be removed from the group folder in your own message center, but not permanently deleted.

It's a common suggestion there, although the admins have not stated any development objectives concerning it or a related feature.

This is concise, complete, and well-formulated. If I hadn't gotten the shock-treatment as a Contributor in another Group, I would have found it invaluable as an assistance when I founded my Group, but fortunately I knew most of it already. Regardless, excellent work.

am still in the consideration process for my clubs...
I abhor that we can't revert back if we transfer...
But would one be penalised for creating a new group parallel to a club that already exists to test drive it for feel?
that way I could make a better informed decision...
I am a hands on type of person...

You could probably talk with #Adopt-a-Group if you wanted to test an account out for a while, they have several accounts that aren't being used.

I have a question that was not covered in this tutorial. (If it was in there, I must be blind.) If you join a group and then submit a bunch of artwork, blogs, or other such content to that group, then remove yourself from that group, does the artwork/blogs/contribution you made to the group stay in the group or does it leave with you when you leave?

If it does not, is there a way to--just as you yourself, contributed artwork to the gallery, then on your own/by yourself--request to remove the contribution? Or, do you have to actually CONTACT a member of the group's staff and ask them in person to remove your piece again if you've decided to change your mind later on?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

parallellogic In reply to ZachSano [2010-01-18 10:47:54 +0000 UTC]

~does the artwork/blogs/contribution you made to the group stay in the group or does it leave with you when you leave?
It stays in the group unless it is manually removed by the group's admins (soon users will be able to remove their own artwork from groups)

~then on your own/by yourself--request to remove the contribution?
This feature is in development

~Or, do you have to actually CONTACT a member of the group's staff and ask them in person to remove your piece again if you've decided to change your mind later on?
For the time being, you will need to contact the group's admins

ZachSano In reply to parallellogic [2010-01-18 23:19:50 +0000 UTC]

Alrighty. That is good to know. Hopefully the feature comes out soon--it's not something majorly important or even necessary but it is convenient.
