Description
ImageBack in April I had a short break down in Teignmouth with my family. It wasn the best break ive had as things just seemed to go wrong, one of those times if you know what i mean...I wasnt feeling the best when i went up pretty grogy for the whole time there plus the weather wasnt up to much so i wasnt that succesful when i was out shooting, but i did get a few from the trip.
The shot is from inside an old smuglers tunnel leading onto 'The Ness' beach. This was only a short distance from teignmouth, over the estuary of the river Teign to Shaldon and down to the sea front. The weather was quite miserable, hazy and foggy and cold, not much scope for any shots outside. So on the way back up the tunnel i decided to shoot this and get a real sence of the perspective and tunnel vision
Development
Taken and Proccessed in RAW Duotone convertion in PS, curves were added to boost the contrast of the image, removed sensor dust and also used Neat Image to irradicate unwanted noise, unsharpenmask was used twice in the image; one, to sharpen and another to boost contrast in the detailed areas.
Location
Smugglers Tunnel, Shaldon, Devon, UK
Equipment
Nikon D70 | Nikkor 18-70mm DX ED | focal length 18mm | ISO200 | f/22 | 10 secs | Hoya Polarizer

This same stairway appears in Silent Hill 3 in the subway and in a unknown pathway to a church. I had no idea it was based on a real place, but I'm not surprised. The creators had a tendency to copy real elements in all the games. But what a shot! Your lighting and angle make it fell just as creepy and mysterious as it does in-game. Beautiful. The angle is perfection, with the stairs looming before us, threatening in their height. I just love it!

This makes me picture a scene along the lines of Metro: 2033.
I love Black & White, and Monochrome when done correctly. I also like how you got the angle, symmetry, and a sense of unknowing with what lies beyond. Nice job.

Impressive angle and perspective. Nice timing with the weather too. Cause, knowing it was taken in the rainy cold adds for a blearier feel which is what these bricks and steel are supposed to be notorious for. Fave.

Mesmorising ahot, if you look at it long enough the stairs look like they are going both up and down.

Oh, interesting.
You could say both. There is a way down.
But also a way up.
(Okay, then there would be the lights on the wrong place, but who cares...)
I love it.~

WOW! This is soo similar to my [link] I love the illusion yours gives the viewer of wondering it you're at the bottom looking up or... at the top looking down. See what I mean?
