ImageIt was the turn of the engineer *Alex37 and the opportunist to embark on another photographic mission. This time to the mountains of Snowdonia. We decided to spend the night 650m up the Glyderau mountains in quest of some spectacular scenery. We spent the night a further 350m up on the summit before making are way back down to the camp in the dark. We woke at 4.20am and looked to the east. Realising a slither of clear sky under the cloud, we took of in search of compositions. The sky just got better and better, red light hitting every cloud in the sky. (by this point I was running through bog with my eyes still closed) I found this pool much further away from where Alex was shooting whilst searching for a small stream I stumbled across the afternoon before and I couldn't help myself and with such a view of Tryfan it all came together.

Stunning sky, and a nice compo with the foreground bog which feels cosey, and enclosed with the rocks surrounding it, and then leading into the mountainous backdrop. Top notch mate!

haha well I just couldn't bring myself to crop even just the little bit of that amazing sky out of the image.

My reason being is that even though you would lose a bit of the top sky the lines of the clouds and the strength of the overall comp would increase so might be worth a bit of an experiment.

Beautiful sky Guy! Not sure about the grass in the foreground though. Personally I'm finding it a bit distracting... Would prefer it without, but still a lovely shot.

Yes, I think you win on this shot Guy! I love the crop (although I also like Alex's crop too), but somehow this shows up better lighting and detail on the land itself. Excellent stuff!
