Description: Everybody loves this cat, even along with a tiger, and your domestic cat, was recognizable as he was called "King of the Beasts!" The lion! The 2nd largest members of the cat family, and the only cat that has sexual dimorphism, which male lions have manes, while females, who are called "lionesses" had no manes. In rare cases that lionesses had manes, to make look like transsexual lions. Anyways, lions are the only panthers that are, not only that they don't have spots in adulthood, but the ones who hunted in packs, like their archenemies, spotted hyenas. Speaking of hyenas, lions lived in packs called "prides," which contain a lot of females, who are related to them(including, mothers, aunts, daughters, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, sisters, and friends, for examples), and their several cubs, all lead by an alpha male. Lionesses do most of the hunting, just like wolves and spotted hyenas do best, but they are really good at ambushing their prey, so they bring home some bacon! Black-maned lions are very attractive to the lionesses, which makes other lions with lighter manes, very jealous of him. Male lions fight each other for, not only their mate, but the dominance of their pride. When the winner of this fight wins, then he gained the trust of his mate, and dominance of the pride, and the loser goes hit the road, which means the loser is banished from the pride. Not all lions lived like a harem, most male lions lived in a small, males-only pride, which it is a coalition. Lion cubs had spots, if the cub was male, then he gained the mane, but both male and female lion cubs lose their spots, when they're older. As Africa's Big 5, they are depicted as man-eaters, kill more humans, as leopards and loxodonts killed the humans, than rhinos, but less than Cape buffaloes. Like man-eating tigers, man-eating lions had poor dental health for eating humans. Besides humans, in Africa, the enemies are spotted hyenas, as both lions and hyenas have the same role(except that female spotted hyenas are dominant in the clans, while both male and even female lions are dominant in their pride), leopards and cheetahs, even though they are closely related. Not all lions are NOT the endangered species like their Asian subspecies, one subspecies in Western Africa are critically endangered species, and some lions are extinct in Europe, North Asia, and America, long time ago. In Ice Age America, lions are competitors to jaguars, pumas, and saber-toothed cabbits, along with bears, and wolves. Asian Lions lived in the small parts of India, for example, in the Gir Forest of India. The Asian lions can prey upon deer, wild pigs, water buffaloes, gazelles, camels, and even leopards, jackals, and striped hyenas. Most lions are hunters, and people preferred that lions are scavengers, but they don't crack the bones up, like jaguars and hyenas do. Both of us humans and lions are one of the most widespread big mammals in history. We see lions, in movies, videos games, books, myths, legends, and the constellation of Leo. We do know they were monsters who are half-lion, for examples, the gryphons(the mythic creatures who are half-eagle, half lion. As in the lion with head, wings, and front claws of an eagle.), chimaeras(Greek mythic monsters, with a head of a lioness, body of a goat, tail of a snake), Nemean Lions(deadly super lion of the Greek myths who have been killed by Hercules), sphinxes(creatures who are half-human, half gryphon, as in the gryphon with a head of a human, in the Greek and Egyptian mythologies), Rakshasas(on the Might & Magic series, that they are depicted as half-human, half-lion, in other version, like in Dungeons and Dragons, that Rakshasas are half-human, and half-tiger), and the Manticore(the monstrous red liger with a head of a human with many rows of sharp-teeth like a shark, and a tail of a scorpion or dragon) for example.
