More stamps that relate to this subject: [link] [link] [link]This stamp is for everyone who has a cat character and doesn't want it associated with Warriors or dislikes how 64% of cat art that isn't related to Warriors at all is still submitted to the groups.
-For everyone who wants their cat characters to not be confused with Warriors.
-The people who often see fanart or commissions of their characters submitted to Warrior FC/fan cat groups and wish that didn't happen.
-People who are doing a story or have a cat comic and don't want the readers to be confused.
-Or just flat out if you don't like Warriors and don't want your characters to be confused with it and you wanna put this in the folders or art descriptions of your gallery and art.
This isn't saying that assuming a cat with their name ending in paw, fur, star, etc isn't a Warriors cat most often they are one. This is for blatant none-Warriors cats, the ones who have nothing to do with any of the groups they're asked to be put in or are assumed to be Warriors by default.
Honestly I don't hate Warriors, it's full of grammar errors, mistakes, genderbending cats, superpower cats, and is one of the best examples of what to never do with a book but I don't hate it.
If you think I'm being harsh well that's your opinion but point is it has tons of mistakes. Lots of examples are Tawnypelt changing gender, male calicos having offspring, the eye colours constantly changing, etc. Want more errors here's a list of all of them in each book and they can't even keep the names consistent: [link]
Good idea of it if you haven't read or become familar with Warriors yet: [link]
One thing that annoys me is when everything that has to do with cats or anything is associated with Warriors. Someone or a character uses a "My quarrel is with ____" or "I have a quarrel with him" line then they say something like "reminds me of Ashfur" and so on. The quarrels and usage of someone having a quarrel with others has been used for ages. You draw a cat or have them be given 9 lives it's Warriors. You make a cat character with a exotic or even a common name, it's Warriors, you have even a few faves of Warriors fanart, you must draw Warriors so all your cats are Warriors too.
Cat stories and books have been around for ages, Warriors is most certainly not the best in fact it borrows things from other cat books.
Another thing, the forbidden romance thing is tripe, makes no sense and just sounds repetitive and incestrous. They can only breed in their own clan. They're already popping out way too many kits and then every time they treat the incidents that repeat again and again like they're something new. No wonder the cats are unnatural they must be half-inbred by now.
Plus the Erin's have cats, they should know cats aren't social in the wild and tend to be around a female and attack any male or other animal they see as a threat without hesitation unless they are at a disadvantage, in which they flee. Plus there's four people working on the books. Four between eight hands they can't keep characters consistent design or eye colour-wise?
There is no shame in making an alphabetized list of them with eye colour and fur colour as a reference. They had too many characters, especially the one that died of greencough three times. Less characters wouldn't have ruined the plot, heck, it probably would have helped it.
Don't give me the 'this is a fantasy book' people toss the behavior and stuff written in it around like it's fact all the time and they started out intending it to be semi-realistic. So it's not just fantasy, it only became that when the stuff became inaccurate and ridiculous.
I am aware it's fantasy now, that's not an excuse, that would be like writing a long disturbing porno with real people and calling it fiction makes it okay. There's dos and don'ts to a lot of things people, and Warriors did a lot of don'ts. It's not the worst but the hype is overplayed.
The main issue I dislike is the association one. *(Expect more stamps on this)

I like the books, but my cat OC is anthro (kind of but not quite furry) and has nothing to do with the Erin Hunter universe.

I used to love these when I was younger, but I now realize they aren't all that great. There are things I do admire about them. They have really cool lore and the concepts are generally well fleshed out. The action scenes are compelling and well described. I also like the way it explains cat behavior. On the other hand, there are so many characters that not even the eight authors working on them can keep track, and most of them aren't even good characters (with several exceptions). A lot of the themes and plot points are also cliche. I'd say they are alright but not worth reading unless you really like cats.

To be honest, it seems flattering to many, but given there are over 500 groups on DA for Warriors cats and a lot -normally around 50- for the more popular ones like Scourge, Firestar, Jayfeather, etc. It takes away the flattery. I've seen the same picture made with a base in over 100 Warriors groups right beside amazing artwork and it only took a few seconds to bucket fill the base while it took a long time to do the picture that someone had done which sat beside it.
It can really dampen someone's mood to know that just anything cat goes to Warriors groups.

*reading description * i agree , and i do have warriors ocs, but i also have cat ocs that have nothing to do with the series...and i hate when they get mixed up.
(Imma hypocrite with what im gonna say)
Yes the forbidden romance thing gets way to repetitive (but who am i to say that i ship my SC and TC ocs together)
Also the books arent meant to be 100% realistic, but like you said semi-realistic.
And it really bothers me when people use the fantasy excuse

I'd be here all day, I know of a good couple dozen series about cats better than Warriors.
Tailchaser's song is one. It's what Warriors ripped off, don't believe me, look at the cover: www.cartoonbrew.com/wp-content⦠This 1985 book looks like it has a Firestar on it, but wait, Warriors was made after this book. Ohohoho Erin's you are so sneaky.

Well there ARE many authors to the Warriors series, but they should at least have the other erins read over it so a cat doesn't die of greencough three times.

That was a pretty big fail. I think they all planned for him to die of greencough, but each Erin thought the other Erins haven't killed him yet so did it theirselves maybe.

Good, don't. They'll always be remembered for the Warriors aspect and nothing more. They'll also be mistaken for characters others can roleplay with. People will nitpick them to death because they aren't as cool as (insert character here) or they have a similar personality to (insert one of the six hundred something cats here).

Have you ever heard of the book Varjak Paw? It has nothing at all to do with the Warriors, in fact, it's better than the Warriors, my opinion. I haven't read it sinceΒ middle school (aboutΒ nine years ago now), but from what I remember from it, it's kinda dark and depressing compared to the Warriors where it's a magical type thing. I digress though. It seems that people automatically think Warriors when someone adds a 'paw' to the name of a cat. Ugh...

I personally love the Warriors series, especially the first arc. However, there was a lot of mistakes in some of the books. I guess Erin Hunter had a hard time keeping track of what was happening to 682 cats

Simple solution would be to cut down on the number of characters. Given they took fan names and even named Ivypool after a fan of theirs they were bound to dig a deep deep hole in no time. They should have thought it through better beforehand.

I'm an 18 year old girl and I'm still a huge fan of warriors. Not afraid to admit that. Been a fan since I was 14.. maybe 13. About the Ivypool part, Vicky named the cat Ivypool after her daughter.
Though, I do have to admit that a /lot/ of things in the stories are so repetitive.
EX: Cats from each Clan meet each other secretively (done that more than TWICE); prophecies from StarClan, thenΒ you have to fulfill them (basically that's what it's all about, really), cats immediately falling in love with each other too fast..which...didn't make any sense to me because some cats don't even /know/ each other personally yet they fall in love with each other.
I mean, I've loved Warriors and always will until I lose interest, but I don't like how so many things are repetitive. ewe A lot of fans are begging the Erins to make a whole new series after The Last Hope. I don't agree that they should; they should just stop the series because the same things will happen all over again and never stop.
They are, though, making a new series about how the Clans started. It's pretty interesting and /not/ repetitive.

I highly recommend reading Tailchaser's Song. It is a book written around twenty years before Warriors with cats that have names similar to the ones in Warriors and it is better than Warriors as well. If you read it you'll probably notice how much better it is than Warriors, but you'll most likely notice all the parts that Warriors copied Β from it as well.

Kurai-Phantom In reply to Pearly-There [2013-08-29 22:31:44 +0000 UTC]
Just wondering, have you thought of reading The Sun Trail from them? It's nothing like the original warriors series, and even their names are different.
Anyway, I probably will, since some people have said Warriors is copied from a lot of books.

Pearly-There In reply to Kurai-Phantom [2013-08-30 18:23:58 +0000 UTC]
No, I could barely get past the Warriors books as it was a lot like most of the books I've read only worse and more copied.
You know one of the Erin's roleplays with a cat character named Cakestar on facebook?
