Lions are not exclusive to TLK and should not be limited to the TLK fandom just for being a lion. Not all rabbits are Watership Down, not all cats are Warriors, and so forth. The species should not be a major limiting factor on the artistic community anymore than hair or eye colour should be a limiting factor on a person's attractiveness. I do not support one majorly popular thing dominating people's perspectives on a character due to the species being the same.

Lots of lion characters aren't part of TLK, but it doesn't stop a lot of them from cribbing the visual style. Which, in that context, would make this stamp pretty funny: People who say their character isn't part of TLK but use glorified TLK recolors.

If by glorified TLK recolours you mean paint bucket filled trace bases that take maybe five seconds of effort or sparklelions that are traced from TLK screenshots than I'm opposed to those altogether. Traced bases shouldn't be a Deviantart category in the submit area at all,
or are you referring to when people make lion characters that look just like a TLK char without tracing?

Nah, not just base colors. Even if it's a spectacularly done hand drawing, but is done in the same style, with the same blocking and everything.
