For anyone who is in this type of situation or has a pony char yet dislikes MLP.Related stamps: [link]
It's true though, the other stamp covers my opinion here just as well.
You can draw furries and not like them, you can draw babies and not like those, just because someone draws something does not always mean they are a fan.
People do fanart, gift art, art trades, commissions, etc and draw things they don't like plenty.

I am a fan of MLP, but I do have quite a few equine/bovine/mythical creature OCs that have nothing to do with the fandom

To me, this makes no sense. In order to feel the need to make an OC, one would need to like the series at least to an extent. If you dislike the show, why on Earth would you feel any need to have a character?

People make characters that never cross paths with the MLP cast, some people do it for the sake of hopping on the bandwagon.
I know people who hate MLP and draw ponies, I know people who have anti-ponies.
If I make a gen 1 style pony and hate all the other gens does that make sense?
What if I make a pony in G4 style but dislike all the things about the other gens?
Also, people make characters or are given characters by friends and they don't like the show all the time. Some people make pony-sonas just because they want to get with the latest trend.
Now then. What about people who like the figurines? So they make one inspired by their toy ponies. They hate the show, they hate the fandom, but they like the figurines that aren't even a part of the fandom because these are the old figurines and not a lot of the current fans like the old gens.
So they are neither interested in the show, the fandom, the movies, etc. They made a pony character because they wanted a pony character yet they don't like ponies.
There's several people that hate My Little Pony but make characters to help correct and fix the mistakes and unbalanced cast. They dislike it so much they want to fix it. That's not so much a matter of liking the series, it's a matter of feeling like it lacks all the things they do like so they add it in.

A simple explanation would have sufficed. You don't need to pour out your entire mind into text to get your point across. While I understand your angle more now, I still don't entirely understand. But whatever the case may be, I respect your right to your opinion, and to do what you enjoy for whatever your reasons may be. I merely wished to understand more, and now I do.

There's plenty of people who have a pony character and have never watched one episode of MLP, but they know what the ponies look like.
The characters exist in the same world/realm(Equestria) but never cross paths with anypony from the show, etc.
