Description
The range buzzer sounded, and was instantly swallowed by the sound of her firing all thirteen rounds in rapid succession, so quickly the echo in the underground concrete room drowned the individual shots into a single rolling blast, dying again to the tinkling of the spent casings rolling on the floor. The buzzer sounded again and the paper silhouette trundled down its overhead track toward her, as she took off her headphones and let them hang around her neck. Two compact groupings had torn ragged holes in the chest and head.

From Chapter 8 of the Oracle Sword, Miyuki test fires her pistol, after the armorer has gone to work on it, to make it untraceable to the previous night's shooting. The word "ninja" does not appear dramatically in kanji behind her when this happens, the space just looked blank otherwise.

Since I haven't drawn anything in a long ass time, I figured I'd better, just to make sure I still remember how. Also, I wanted to try out an alternative outfit - this would be an option for Miyuki to wear for work, even though she doesn't go to work in Chapter 8.

The Oracle Sword, Chapter 8
The sun hung low in the eastern sky, but already the air had a soft warmth, fragrant from early opening flowers, tricked into blooming out of season. It was a very pleasant, Indian summer morning, but it held the threat of another uncomfortably hot day in the hours to come. Although minimally dressed in a sports bra and short shorts Miyuki was already uncomfortably hot when, a mile into her morning run, she came to a pause at the corner of Point Lobos and 48th Avenue. Before her the road curved down and sharply to the right, giving way to the broad, blue expanse of the Pacific Ocean. Somewhere, past the sharp edge of the horizon, was the cooling marine fog that blanketed the coast for much of the year, and could relieve the heat in a matter of hours if the wind would just change direction.
