Description
This is just my (unworthy) attempt at bringing 's lovely fic, Retroactive, to life in the visual medium. Retroactive is a fic that focuses on Suki and Azula (and trust me, if you think this comic is good, just WAIT till you hit chapter THREE of the fic!) This is just part of the Prologue, not all of it. I hafta say, my comics don't do the fanfic ANY justice. I had to cut out loads of good stuff cuz I wasn't sure how to draw it/convey the emotion/it took up too much space. If your interest is piqued after reading this, check out Loopy's fic, either here on DA: [link] or on fanfiction.net: [link] .Page two: [link]

Yes, yes, it was. I was only on chapter 7 when I left off, though. (so much to read through)

It's a very long fic. But it's worth it. Loopy is such a talented writer.

I didn't expect this much of the narration to actually make it through to the comic, but you did a good job incorporating it. I'm personally a fan of the classic narrative boxes to go with the art in comics, but then, I'm a bit old-school. The art could probably stand on its own, but I liked how you used the narration to transition from the scene in Suki's bedroom to her conversation with Ty Lee outdoors.
The faces and body language of the girls are nicely expressive, and I appreciate that you added a little big of background detail to every panel, even when the focus is a close-up of the characters. It's an interesting choice to give each girl her own panel once they start speaking; was that a deliberate choice to subtly convey a certain distance between Suki and Ty Lee, or am I perhaps reading too much into it?

Well, since the comic's based off your fanfic, I wanted to incorporate as many of your own words as possible; your words are what give the story life, really, so I wanted to keep that in the comic.
I'm pretty lame at backgrounds, but when I drew this, I had a background in mind for every scene because of your story. Part of the reason I gave them each different panels when speaking was because I'm just a lazy bum who didn't feel like working out the details of including them both in one panel; the other part was that I wanted to emphasize that there's something about Suki that separates her from others. That idea of separation from others runs pretty deep throughout the whole fic. I'm glad you noticed :3
