Those cats in the link were not play-fighting. I DO NOT APPRECIATE IT. You have ruined my day. Do not link me to any more catfights. In fact, do not link me to anymore videos. First your link to that precocious kid, now to a catfight...obviously our tastes differ. I am not judging your taste in videos ...obviously there are many who feel the same way as you do, or these videos would not have been made. I would have put a stop to the fight instead of video-taping it for fun. That's all I want to say on this matter.

ahso...can your keyboard be fixed? or you gonna live with it like that until you get a new one?
haha...I meant did you have to, like bend-over upside-down to get the right perspective of this pic?

nope, I have the ability to mentally flip things upside down, which tended to mess up my artist learning curve. You know, that draw the picture upside down exercise that your art teacher gave you. It really annoyed her that I couldnt draw it until I told her "But I still see it as a man sitting in his chair" Same goes for sideways pictures too. I guess I'm too smart for my own good

wow, you have incredible abilities! Reminds me of a detective story I read years ago where this person can read others' handwriting while across the table from them! Never thought I would come across a real live example (you)!

InsaneXade In reply to pergamjee [2010-11-23 17:00:06 +0000 UTC]
Well, I find it more of a nuisance than something to be awed about, because it means I can't draw worth a darn so I must do 3d artwork. (An auto injury also helped on getting my comic 3d.)
I can also read most text backwards or upside-down, but not both. But yeah, I can do that across a table too. I used to read what kids were writing out loud if I didnt like them back in school. Annoyed the poo out of them, and got them off my back, especially when they were writing a poorly done story for English; I would say something like "Boy, that's awful, you do know that the teacher will mark you for using too much passive voice" or something like that. Of course complicated words are tougher and takes longer to decide what they are, but it's not really that hard to do.
Try it some time, flip a box something upside down and read it, remembering to read it from bottom right to top left. Pretty soon your mind will place it right.

Hmmm...I don't know of anybody else who has this same ability (or disability?) so I cannot fathom why it would be a hindrance to drawing. I understand that it would be impossible to do that upside-down art class exercise, but not why all drawings, and even more mystifying, why it doesn't affect 3D art.
Oh dear, what sort of auto injury? Are you all ok now?
Oh no, no...I have done that before...and my eyeballs felt like they were all skewed after!

well, it doesn't mess with 3d art because it is in 3d, and I can rotate it to my heart's content. In fact that perception actually helps because even if I have it at an odd angle I can still mold it. Just like a sculptor doesn't need their work at the same angle to do that little fold in the clothes, neither do I need to have the item I am 3ding at just one angle. 3d art is more liberating to me than plain old 2d, once I figured out what x, (sideways) Y, (up and down) and Z (back and forth) meant. For example, Alex's, [link] sword only took me about 2 hours to do, not counting the conceptualizing and the texture making. This includes laying out the basic shapes, tweaking, then smoothing and molding the shapes even more until I was ready to call it done.
With 2D I am always rotating it because it just doesn't line up with my mental picture. it would have taken me over 5 hours to make the same sword and be happy with it if I had to draw it by hand. My teacher was astounded that I could sculpt effortlessly but draw slowly. My comic [link] is proof of this, that first page took me hours top do and I still wasn't happy with it, but the recent 3D ones took next to no time to do, just to get the rooms to lower polygon count, and texture is my main problem
A 16 year old kid ran a yield sign and hit me, I broke my wrist spinning my wheel with such force to avoid some younger kids playing in their grandpa's yard. To this day I don't know how the heck I turned that wheel, my front end should have prevented it. Mystified the cop who took the report. "That wheel should not have been able to turn" But i did it. "I just couldn't kill those kids." Was my reply. I'm fine now, just hurts to sign my name or use a pen tablet for long but I can mouse like heck cause I can move my whole arm.
Wimp, you start out small and work your way up. Just kidding.

wimp - she is my middle name!
ahso, I'm beginning to get an inkling of how this 2D-3D thing works with your perspective. Thanks for explaining.
How long has it been since your auto accident? Is your wrist injury ever going to heal properly? My sister's bad ankle injury when she was in high school hurts her for decades - everytime she overuses it, it hurts; when the weather is changing, it aches.

InsaneXade In reply to pergamjee [2010-11-26 09:06:33 +0000 UTC]
same here, I also injured my ankle as a teen, it has re-injured itself since about every 2 years, like it did just this last saturday. It is a pain, cause if I dont watch where I am going every second then down I go. My wrist is easier to prevent re-injuries cause it doesnt hold my weight.
But yeah, my 2d work on the computer takes forever cause I can't rotate it and have it look the same once it's back at 0 degrees, it would be all pixlated. That's why most of my textures are simple unless I use fancy things in photoshop like the texture filters or use a base texture and recolor it. But if I can paint it in 3d then it's no problem, like Aden and Alex's face textures, and Alexis too. Once I see it in 3d, say I have it on an auto update feature, and look at Daz studio it's more manageable. But that's normally the last, final detailing step
it's going on 3 years for the accident. Totally wrecked the car tat mom and dad bought me, I was sooooooo mad. JUST got the perm tags, had it for 31 days

wow, three years and still it hurts. Hey, never mind the car! You got out of that with one broken wrist - it could have been worse! Not that I'm belittling your injury - which is likely to be bothering you for the rest of your life - but what's a car compared to you? Better the car than you, I say!
