Description
The laedo is a nocturnal ambush predator that stalks through the nights of Agrona. Relying on a keen sense using chemoreceptors lining the sides of its body and its enlarged eyes, the laedo tracks its prey in almost complete darkness. The laedo has a unique jaw on a jointed mechanism that stores tension energy and allows it to shoot its jaw forward in order to skewer its prey. The hastam (Spear jaw) and teeth of the mandible is reinforced by biomineralized pyrite from microorganism symbiosis which is common in the order chrysognathus. The prey dies quickly from bodily hemorrhaging inflicted by the hastam and succumbs to the laedo. While not unique to the laedo, it is significantly pronounced as the exceptionally wrinkly skin and folds on the underbelly and legs aid in adding surface area to increase oxygen exchange with the open air.
