Description
Based on recovered STC readouts, the Type 15.medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM) is the longest-range missile to be launched by the 11th legion. The Type 15 represents an early attempt by the legion to develop a road-mobile theatre ballistic missile. This two-stage missile was carried into battle on a tracked transporter erector launcher (TEL) in a sealed fiberglass container. After missile erection, the container split longitudinally and withdrawn. (www.deviantart.com/peterhoff3/… www.deviantart.com/peterhoff3/… )
As a strategic weapon, it had a longer reaction time compared to tactical missile complexes, taking 20 to 30 minutes to launch. It also had a ‘holding time’ at peak readiness of a day.
In its 90 years of service with the 11th legion, the Type 15 operated in battalions of 12 vehicles which could be divided into two batteries. These batteries included six TELs, a mobile command post, a pair of communication vehicles, multiple power units, and prime movers for carrying equipment and spare missiles. Each chapter would receive one battalion of these missiles.
Like all weapon systems developed by the 11th space marine legion, they refined the Type 15. These included a redesigned TEL with cold launch capability. The Type 15 was succeeded by the cheaper and more versatile Granite Ground Launched Cruise Missile Complex.
