Wow I had SO much fun doing this one!
I think of this one as of a VERY old male (150 years) which haven't visited a "whalewash" for quite a long time.
He has collected many scars during his lifetime, he's been able to teach many predators a nasty lesson, but he's been through a few "close ones" either.
He's still going strong despite the age, he just needs a little grooming before engaging in the upcomming breeding season
Even though it would certainly be cool, I won't do more color schemes for this "bumped" model, I'll work with the smooth one for the sake of simplicity.
This one was more of an experiment rather than anything else, but i quite like how it turned out.

Nice! but it looks to me that the scars etc. might be a little strong? or maybe it's more the light direction, as the ones on the lower jaw look much better than the ones on the top... either way, these sculpts really make me want to paint a giant sea creature

I actually found some sketches of a sea predator concept I did a few years ago, if I get a couple of spare hours this evening I'll redraw and render it.

Haha, Yeah I know what you mean, I too think I've gone over the top with the scars a bit, but a nice cop out would be to say that they're from young age when it wasn't nearly as big as it is now...

And that explanation for the scars... well, technically, scar tissue doesn't stretch with age, but that only applies to Earth creatures, so I guess it fits this guy...

Yeah, what I meant is that the spaces between the scars stretched, but the scars themselves are still the same size, but I did mention that the scars are not my favourite bit about this either, right? I know they're exaggerated.

And yeah, they do indeed look like barnacles a lot and I think the inspiration was obvious, but i want them to be something rather limpet-like or chiton-like in shape, but here it was not really wise to specify the shape of the parasites too much, and they could even have different color after all...

Oh thanks! I didn't use this one before because I though it had too low definition, but then, when I tried it, it turned out to be probably the best option.
The only thing that bugs me is that the reflection doesn't show on the body...

You could try to make the reflection with Photoshop or Sumopaint.
