once again a kind of horn in the chest area..If it has a horn this size, then what will be the size of it's-------- LOL .Unfortunately it is not having anything over there.Haha.. It is not possible to face this animal in the front position because of that long horn. It reminds me about one of the mastodon species which has a straight 12 feet tusk..That is really crazy..Your jaw will drop.See this picture. [link]

Oh my god. that's
At least his horn was on the head and not the chest
and what's with all the genital references?
I was actually thinking of giving up on this idea, it does seem to pretty much prevent the animal from feeding... =/

it's all right I am not even sure i like this body plan actually, I may be more comfortable with just six limbs But then again, I need the ancestors of these creatures to be triradial, so there will have to be something visible in that spot in he ancestors... I simply need a story to explain what happenned to the three limbs that are "missing" basically, the ancestors would have to have nine fins, but the descended creatures only have six legs I have to work this out

thanks working on ideas for the world first won't get too in depth because i cant seem to keep that sort of info in my head lol i was thinking a planet a wee bit larger than earth with two moons one would be a captured astroid ,as for the planet im still trying out a map idea its so annoying for me i like making worlds and systems but making them seem plausible is just ridiculously dificult for me

PeteriDish In reply to OblivionJunkey94 [2012-11-10 22:07:05 +0000 UTC]

well maybe you can have many worlds and show a tiny bit of each, you don't have to go in depth, just a few creatures in a landscape each time That's what I wanted to try to do too actually

2 questions.
how does it eat?
how does it mate?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

PeteriDish In reply to k-hots [2012-11-06 08:50:09 +0000 UTC]

Well the mouth is where you would expect it to be and the reproductive organs are between the midlegs, but things may still chsnge.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

k-hots In reply to PeteriDish [2012-11-06 09:06:56 +0000 UTC]

i know where the organs are... but how does it eat? if it's a grazer, then it cannot bend down it's neck because of the joust. if it feeds on leaves, then he'd need to bend his head.
as for reproducing, you can think of what kind of position he and his mate will be in order not to hurt each other...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

PeteriDish In reply to k-hots [2012-11-06 09:22:40 +0000 UTC]

Oh I see what you mean now, sorry for acting dumb before...

Well, it is a browser, so it doesn't need to lower the head oftenly, and if so, it can lower the head next to the horn. As for the mating, probably side by side, both henders would have extendable genitals, although the male and female would have different ones, obviously.

it's all up to you, dude... just wanted you to think deeper into your designs

PeteriDish In reply to k-hots [2012-11-06 09:43:14 +0000 UTC]

Well, earth also produced 'impractical' animald because of sexual selection.

But remember. Not everything I post is meant to be final or to be taken seriously, I drew this one just because I could basically, I don't even kmow if these jorns on the chest are such a great idea, but that' where inspiration took me at the moment. Expect me to play around and explore for some time now, I need to find what works well and still looks odd, these are all aliens, after all.
I hope you understand.

it's fine with me, don't worry about it... mostly that was my way of saying "this is an interesting design but it's not really practical"... hahah

I really like the design. a question: how was the evolution of these hexapods? ie as an arm ended in the chest.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

PeteriDish In reply to Dragonthunders [2012-11-06 02:09:05 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!
Well, my basic idea was a triradial ancestor - it may nit be that ibvious here, but this animal has three jaws, a reminder of its distant ancestors. Now this ancestor has three pairs of fins closer to the top and three ventral fins. The paired fins eventually became the legs, and the remaining three fins morphed, over time, into different organs. The first ventral fin turned into all kinds of weapons, manipulatory organs, display and communication organs, the second ventral fin became a lart of external reproductive organs and the third ventral fin first became a " branch" of the tail and then could also diversify into all sorts of defense organs or djsplay featuees, or it could disappear completely, but like I said, I still have a lit ti think about and improve upon!
