Working on descriptionI don't really like the ribbon explorer of Windows8. So most of the time it is hidden. To keep some basic functionality of it, and to add a more "metroish" look, i made this Styler toolbar skin.
If you like this idea:
Download Styler herewww.crystalxp.net/galerie/en.i…
Rightclick on the installer and select "Check for compatibility issues"
Windows 8 will do the rest for you.
Install it with the recommended settings.
Go to your program files and open the skins folder of Styler. Replace the folder "Default" with the one of this deviation. Don't rename it.
Open your Ribbon explorer and select "Options"You see an option to display the toolbar.
Lock the toolbar and you are done.
Only tested on x32 systems

hey peter, sorry to say this doesn't work either. I got windows 8.1 enterprise 64-bit, 8gb of ram (ddr3) and an intel core i5 processor @ 1.60ghz.

Everything in the windows explorer should be more metroish ,i don't get why they removed shadows and flatted everything while the skeumorphisme is still inside the windows ,flat ui is a beautiful when it is well executed (as in IOS and Android apps ) : theultralinx.com/2013/09/flat-…
In windows they just mixed every thing and the result is ugly

Thanx for your comment and interesting link. This is how Windows 8 should look like. MS still has a lot to learn. Besides the look of Win8.1 the functionality is great (except the bunch of spy functions).

x32 weil ich nicht genug Geduld hatte für den grösseren Download. Habe noch DSL 2000.

Okay. Mach ich. Was geht eigentlich nicht? Kann man Styler gar nicht erst im Kompatibilitätsmodus XP SP3 installieren? Das Programm als solches funktioniert sowieso nicht, man kann nur die Toolbar nutzen.Muss mir doch mal eine 64 Bit Version installieren.

Danke! Ich denke, dass Samurize das bessere Programm ist, aber jetzt macht es keinen Sinn mehr es zu erlernen. Wir hätten wohl beide auf Rainmeter setzen sollen.

Installieren ja, aber da der Explorer in x64 startet, erscheint da natürlich nichts.
Den hab ich ja völlig übersehen. Ok, bin auch zZ nicht jeden Tag hier.
Vom Prinzip hat er was. Für mich als Win 8 Nutzer der ersten Stunde, sieht es eher wie ein Prototyp von Metro aus. *g*.

Die Idee ist eigentlich den Desktop und den Startbildschirm optisch anzunähern. Das ist kein Ersatz für den Startscreen, sondern ein Ersatz für den Desktop. Man kann damit sehr schnell und effektiv arbeiten, auch wenn es etwas kindisch aussieht. Benutze es seit Wochen und bin seitdem viel öfter mit Win8 unterwegs.
