Description
Windows 8 startscreen for Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8
How to use:
First of all download Avedesk 1.3 hereavedesk.aqua-soft.org/download…
Install it and run the proggy one times to get rid of the intro.
Than copy and paste the Avedesk exe to the main folder of this deviation.
Click on the exe and it should run.
If not the controlpanel of Avedesk will appear and you have to load the theme manually.
Why do i call it SDK (Self Development Kit)?
Because you can use it as it is, or modify it to your likings. Build your own personal startscreen if you want.

To get this deviation download "Avedeskfinal" from my Skydrive. But it is outdated meanwhile.
I recommend to download"Windows8.1 Update1 Startscreen" which is much better.

Winmetro is great. The only prob is, that it can't be customised.

I am unable to use it.
Details: When i tried to open RTM Vista Windows 7.avetheme file present in "Small Tiles" folder and click on "Load" Button [File>Load Theme] nothing happens. Neither it shows a error message nor a sucess message. What can I Do??? Please help.

whenever i launch avedesk, some sort of icons appear, just like normal desktop icons. [i hate those icons] when i load the theme "RTM Vista Windows 7.avetheme", nothing happens as i told earlier.

I Tried to do it. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1. I tried to load the skin (Avedeskfinal\AveDesk13\Small Tiles\RTM Vista Windows7.avetheme) by the Desklets Control panel by File>Load Theme but nothing happened. Please Help Me...

Go to appdata Avedesk. To see this folder you have to select "Show hidden folders" in your folder options. Delete all theme files there. Copy and paste the theme file you wanna use in this folder and restart Avedesk.

I have just tried to launch this, but I couldn't. After opening AveDesk from your deviation's folder, my screen flashed several times and DWM was disabled. I only got some stuff like, translator (I don't know if it's that) and sticky notes. Do you know what's the problem? I'm using x64 Windows 7.

I don't know if Avedesk is compatible with 64 bit machines. It is a very old program and was developed for Windows XP.

Yeah, I guess you are right :\. I can't have ribbon in Windows Explorer for the same reason. I can't use 32-bit system, because If I install x86 Windows, only 3,2 from 4 GB of RAM are being used. Waiting for Windows Blue now. I hope there's an improvement. Not Windows 7 with disabled Aero Glass and engrained Metro stuff. Oh, and Microsoft visual styles suck. They always look so ugly and inartistic.

I think i have to upgrade to 64 bit too. Only 2.7 GB of 4GB RAM are used on my Windows8.
Not only the VS suck, most of the coloura are horrible too.

Aww... I couldn't. I rode the tutorial, but I got several errors after trying to launch your theme. 2 of them: [link] . But that's not all. I also saw a red tile, and I was like WTF, when I heard Lily Allen singing. Eventually, I got "AVEDESK.EXE has stopped working...".

Your pictuire shows that one of the effectlets wasn't loading. Not really dramatic(upper picture).
About hook.dll:
Some Win7 systems have probs to find this dll. Open the folder "Docklets". Inside is a folder named "Sysstats" Copy the hook.dll and paste it to the main folder of Avedesk. Normally this works.
You can also try to rightclick the Avedesk.exe. You should get the option "Solve compatibility issues" You have to run Avedesk in compatibility mode or it isn't working.
And btw. you've heard Lenka with the MS promotion song.

Normally this isn't meant to be used with Windows8, but it works. Of course you can make a xbox related startscreen. The limit is your ability to make your imaginations come true.

You have to learn first how Avedesk works first. Also it would be good to have some knowledge of java scripting.

The file size is 80 mb. Best way is to click download and go to bed. Next morning it shouldd be done. That's how i handled it in earlier times.
