Description Windows 8 startscreen for Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8

How to use:
First of all download Avedesk 1.3 hereavedesk.aqua-soft.org/download…
Install it and run the proggy one times to get rid of the intro.
Than copy and paste the Avedesk exe to the main folder of this deviation.
Click on the exe and it should run.
If not the controlpanel of Avedesk will appear and you have to load the theme manually.

Why do i call it SDK (Self Development Kit)?
Because you can use it as it is, or modify it to your likings. Build your own personal startscreen if you want.
Versions already included Developer preview
Consumer preview
Release preview

I watched your video, and want you to try this. Navigate to the theme file RTM and doubleclick it without starting Avedesk before. Seems there is a problem to find the correct path on your machine.

Can you please try to copy and paste the avescripter.dll to the main folder of this deviation. Seems Avedesk has a prob to find it on your system.
Btw. you are making very good videos.

This is the wrong theme. It is an old theme where Windows was on I, not on C. That's the reason for the error messages.Windows is looking for a HD named I and cannot find the path. You can rightclick the desklets and change the path or load the RTM theme where the path should be correct. The overlapping things are not a problem. You can close them using the triggers. This only happens when there are probs while loading in this case caused by the wrong path.

i Just moved it to my local disk c .....and tried it atleast i am getting now the screen of RTM om my desktop but neither scrolling and when i click on desklet it only open's my Computer folder for me.....

It's a request to you that if you could make a small tutorial because i would take you only couple of min....

or someday by TEAMVIEWER ...if you could help...

There's already a tutorial how to use this[link]

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

aus22 In reply to PeterRollar [2012-12-09 10:31:00 +0000 UTC]

it's not about the path i'm talking about its about the main screen its just like a desklet which you can move neither scroll nor do with it anything

SO i think this would probably be my last shot. Because i have exactly followed the tutorial and i still can't find the solution

this is last If this could help you understand my problem.then let me know [link]

Sorry to say that, but i'm out of ideas atm how to solve this problem. Basically Avedesk seems to work but has probs to load the theme. Meanwhile another deviant made a modification of this stuff[link]
Maybe this is working better for you. If not i have no clue what happens on your machine. Alternatively you can use the resources to build your own screen. It's not that hard.

aus22 In reply to PeterRollar [2012-12-10 09:11:01 +0000 UTC]

i think i should leave it.....and for future you should make an video tutorial rather than writing

Because i personally thinks watching hot to it is easy rather than reading all the stuff

Anyways

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK.

Changing the path is easy. Go to the target of your choice. Check it's properties and copy and paste the path to the shortcut box of the desklet. Or simply drag and drop the file/folder from your explorer to the shortcut box.
The my computer target is the default one of Avedesk.

If VG is gonna say this is one of the best Win 8 Start Screens, it had better mean it's a heck of a lot better than the others I'm finding that suck. I'll test it out later today, but when I looked at the screenshots you've got, I thought it might've been a Windows 8 until you said in the comments that it was XP I can't wait to see how this looks!

Nice stuff you did. I might have to play with this, but honestly....if they thought that their new lay out looked good...their graphic designers or who ever decided on those horridly mixed colored boxes failed majorly. I can't stand to even look at most of their new displays. Uck!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PeterRollar In reply to Genisay [2012-12-04 11:47:30 +0000 UTC]

Maybe their designers smoked the wrong things.

Genisay In reply to PeterRollar [2012-12-04 16:31:05 +0000 UTC]

Haha, right? I know graphic design and interface can be hard, but....just....ouch. And who ever thought it was a good idea for release, tsk tsk.

Hey, i've a problem ... i've followed your tutorial, but when i load it for my windows 7, avedesk tells me error and shows me that AVEDESK.EXE must quit What can i do ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PeterRollar In reply to wifun2012 [2012-12-03 19:13:58 +0000 UTC]

Rightclick the avedesk.exe. You will see a option like "Solving compatibilty issues." Click on it and Windows will test it. You will get the recommendation to run it in compatibilty mode for XP SP2. Click on yes and save. Afterwards run it as admin.
