for BorderSkinThis is lhow Windows8 RTM will look like. Probably they will remove the shadows and the transparency of the taskbar also.
If you like this fisher price design, you can get it right now.
Download this file, unzip it and click on the exe.

You mean the Styler toolbar. No not all stuff is working because Styler is discontinued since years.It is more for the visual look.

I heard that there are problems with BorderSkin on Vista. Especially with maximized windows. Can't try it myself because i don't use Vista anymore since years. Which problem do you have?

The skin doesn't change the taskbar...

BorderSkin is only for the windows borders. It has nothing to do with the taskbar. The taskbar is part of the VS.

The skin basically works, but it's border skin who makes that weird stuff.
The titlebar completly covers my tabs in firefox, and some other weird stuff I can't explain.
And also, the explorer styling doesn't work, on XP and on Vista.
BTW, how did u add the ribbon to explorer ?

Can you post a screenshot? The ribbon explorer isn't part of BorderSkin.It is displayed with Styler toolbar.

excellent work (as usual) but you could do a version .theme to use it without the need BorderSkin?

All buttons in the windows borders are functional. This is not possible with a VS. You could only do it as fake buttons. Atm i don't plan to do something like that. because it would need a lot of time.

Honestly it doesn't look very nice on screenshots.But if you use it for a while it doesn't look so bad. It simply needs some time to get familiar with it.

I totally agree with you. The UI is really bad.The OS itself runs fast and stable on my computer, but i don't like the look and it's complicated to use. Can't believe that companies will switch to Win8. I have no touchscreen and i don't want one. A finger can't be as fast and exact as a mousepointer. Focused to much on fun and less on productivity.

implementing transparency was the greatest thing that Microsoft did with the UI,I really hope that they won't disable it on win8 ,I don't want to use those old xp apps (progression or regression ?)

There are some rumours around the web that transparency is disabled by default, but that it can be enabled optional.If this is true, i think we can live with it.
I think they got enough negative feedback for removing Aero, so i hope this will come true.
