Description The tunic, which is really the main piece here, is a simple "t-tunic" with four gores +gussets, narrowing sleeves and straight seams everywhere except in the sleeves. The embroidery were added later. Pattern more or less from the Bocksten bog find (though there were no embroideries there).

Fabric: Grey-brown wool, large herringbone weave. Embroidery in dark red wool yarn.

The trousers are a LARP-project from many years ago, cut out from a pair of jeans >.<. Brown wool mixture.

The thingies on the legs out to be woven, but they aren't. They are the cut off fabric from a semi-circular cloak, and will be replaced. At some point.

Next step for this outfit: a pair of hose, and/or a pair of baggy viking trousers. The first would be more period, the second would probably look nice. And shoes. I want shoes.

Well done! I'm going much the same direction- eventually I need to learn to make the tablet-woven winangas... Mine are also made of cut offs~

Thank you! There should be a note of caution, though: there is no reference for the decorations on the tunic whatsoever (at least as far as I know). And tablet-woven winangas would be nice, but I actually find the larger stretch in the cutoffs really helpful.

Indeed- but from what I understand there are certain patterns in the tablet weaving with a great deal of stretch. I'm all for experimenting! As for the decorations- I'm sure they would have, at the right level of society (money/time) and a nice, simple embroidery (yeah... simple...) is perfect. It looks like it could have been, so I figure it's all good!

Mycket snygg kjortel!
Det gråbruna går jättebra ihop med broderierna.

Oh, tack. Det var ett typexempel på "oh, snygg brun.... vänta, ganska grå... lite röda broderier, kanske?".

it's weird to see that kind of tunic on a woman, but it suits you well.

are there any detailed photos of the embroidery as well? just being curious...

Thank you! And well, yes it is. The fun in larping is that I CAN have it. Or rather, if I believe the research from Sweden, items of clothing was inherited from one sex to the other indicating that it didn't matter that much. The trousers, though, are really hard to explain. And probably the size of the tunic.

There are, somewhere. I should perhaps upload them.

please do! i'd very much like to see them, especially when the embroidery is authentic medieval. but even if not, i'm interested.

Not exactly authentic, but there are now some photos in "scraps". My camera didn't co-operate, so they are not good enough for gallery (hope to solve that in time, though).
