Thanks a lot for the information. I had a class in high school and my teacher taught me absolutly nothing. Definitly added this class to my favorites.

thankyou so very much for this, I just bought a new digital camera today and was so out of my depth with all the different settings and terminology available. this explained it all in a single go.

Thank you so much for the elequent introduction to photography, I recently bought a Nikon FE 10 Fully manual SLR, [because im stubborn like that and insist on getting manual up to speed before progressing.] So far, the lovely little buttons look wonderful, but confused me beyond lenghts, especially in regards to the apature and shutter speed, this article helped me grasp the technicalities well, but im afraid for proper execution i'll have to rely on books. Thanks again, and do let me know if there is anything on Manual Photography
Take care

i would really this in pdf format - any chance of that happening? it's hard to read (print is a bit small) and with pdf i can enlarge it ... and print it out.
otherwise, no complaints at all - it's a great article, as is this whole concept! i'm glad i found you, especially since i'm a real beginner with naught more than a cheap-0 3.2 mp camera.

I really want to look at this, because it looks like it's exactly what I need, but it won't display properly on my computer. The picture shrinks down to a little column on the left side of the screen once the page loads. I tried saving it as a picture and then zooming in, but that cut off a lot of text at the right edge and was hard to read. Do you know how I could fix my computer so it will display this properly?

Yes.
Open it in the browser. Once it has shrunk automatically, move your mouse over the photo and hold it still for a few seconds, you'll see that a little icon appears on the bottom right of the photo with exapding arrows pictured on it, now, move the mouse ot it and click on it and the photo will be displayed correctly.
We'll bundle articles in a webpage with fixed dimensions next time so this annoying problem does not occur anymore.
Sorry for the late answer.

aside from a spelling error in the first line ("This article it aimed at", this was a lovely read.
I was just wondering about something... i've always thought that parralax was more a problem when the subject is closer to the lense as opposed to it being farther away?
