Description
Hi guys, finally back on the internet, really sorry for the long absence.I always wanted to make a tutorial about how to make circle without the help of Photoshop, but I'm not very sure if there's already a tutorial about this on DA or not, but I guess it's alright since mine is quite simple.orz
I think most of the SAI user which is familiar with the shortcuts might know this small "trick", so this tutorial is aiming for both beginner and also novice SAI users.
I hope it's not too hard to understand, it's rather straight-forward I guess.^^

Make sure that one your "keyboard shortcuts" the "del" key is selected to turn 90 degrees clockwise. If not it won't work.
So go to Sai option at the top and hitΒ "Other's"
then go to "Keyboard short cuts"
Find "End" tab click on the empty space beside it
find the "view" tab
then hit "rotate canvas 90 degrees clockwise" and hit save. That will give the "Del" the ability toΒ turn your pageΒ

I already have the keyboard shortcuts
and the comment is old, and I don't plan on using the "circle tool" anymore

Does SAI have an Oval tool? A much easier way to make a circle is use the oval tool and adjust it until you get a perfect circle

Yeah, and what if you've done this over and over and the delete button still won't work?

I think they were using Delete because it was the default for rotation for their' version of SAI.
The thing is that you use whatever button is assigned for rotation. Alright?

Yes, but in general they meant any button used for rotating the canvas.

This looks really useful but I wish SAI would have had a circle tool.

this was super helpful, thank you, i hated the fact i had to switch between photoshop just to make a simple circle by using the circle highlight tool then just filling it in and contract and delete to make a perfectly lined circle, even though this method is a few more steps at least its possible

It is also posible to create squares using a similar technique but with the "line" one!

If you are like me and have an unsteady hand you can pick the mouse up while you click just to make sure that it doesn't move and mess up your circle.

Er... I'm not sure what you mean by this "doesn't work on keyboards" since the tutorial says "Press DEL". [A keyboard button].
This methodΒ requiresΒ you to use a keyboard or another shortcut [like assigning the shortcut to right click or middle mouse button].
If you're pressing DEL and your project is not turning, you might've changed your SAI Keyboard shortcuts.
On the top of your SAI Window, press Options->Keyboard Shortcuts->Delete(Leftside of the window)->View(Rightside)->Rotate View [Counter]-Clockwise (Either counter clockwise or clockwise, doesn't matter)
And it should work.
---
Unless you don't have a delete button on your keyboard, then I'd assign the Rotate View to another button like Shift or "\".

It does work on laptops.
I just did this on my laptop, no problem.
Maybe you aren't following the directions correctly, maybe you aren't clicking then pressing delete.

Nope I've got the issue too. Held down the mouse button, pressed delete. Doesn't move. Checked the hotkeys, even changed the hotkey. Nothing.

Are you on a linework layer and using the curve tool?

I've tried in linework, with the curve tool, and just in a normal layer.
