The pick for this week's #comicsmithsguild sketch subject was Marvel's Invaders , and while I am a big fan of the classic Golden Age stories, I also loved the short-lived New Invaders series from a few years back.So here's my two favorite characters from that run: The Thin Man and Blazing Skull !

Thank you! I don't know if New Invaders has been collected yet, but you can probably find the individual issues pretty cheap. It was a really good series that was canceled way too soon.

I'm a huge fan of Golden Age characters from both big companies. I really need to draw some more JSA stuff for myself.

Yeah, me too. I think I like the JSA a bit more than the Invaders, but I do like the more off beat Marvel GA characters.
Have you read any of the "The Twelve" series? It's been a really good take on some of the obscure GA heroes, though it's taking forever to finish.

Agreed. I especially liked The Thin Man. And Miss America will always be a favorite.
Havne't read any of "The Twelve", but I've seen a lot of art from it. I remember seeing a quote from JMS saying that hell or high water, he'd finish the book.

I hope so - I was a bit worried when he announced recently that he was going to "quit writing monthly comics" to focus on OGNs. But luckily that doesn't really apply to The Twelve's release schedule, does it?
There was also a one-shot written by the artist, Chris Weston, which I think was about as good as the regular series. So worst-case, he can always do the rest of the book himself.

Yeah, if it goes on too long, just let Weston finish it himself. Might take a bit longer, because he'll be pulling double duty, but at least it'll get done.
