Yay, first battle!
Drawing stuff getting beaten up is really funny, I must say, most of all if it is the bad guy to lose. I don’t know what to say about it, I enjoyed drawing the different battle positions, even though this looks far more dramatic than it probably is and lol that mud slap looks like hydropump xD. Don’t ask about details in-game, I don’t remember a fuck of that battle, it was so long ago and my notes are worse than my memory, so I kinda improvised for this. And I’m probably going to do that with many other battles
So, whatever, hope you like it, and stay tuned for the final part of chapter 2!

well it would have felt wrong to draw one of those classic tackle-scratch-tackle-scratch-tackle-KO battles, it kinda wouldn't have fit their personnalities xD

totally cool with battle improv, especially for the first battle. this is one of my favorite depictions of a first rival battle, lots of dynamics, build up, and good paneling

Most will forgive you for the whole battle thing No one wants a play by play of the actual battle.
But man is that Treecko a piece of work.

oh well i couldn't have done that even if i wanted to, and anyway your right, sometimes in-game it takes you like 20 moves to defeat an opponent, drawing every single move is annoying like hell and boring to read xD

Yep and sometimes the fight isn't nearly as awesome as it should be.
(At the end of my OG red nuzlocke I fought Mewtwo with my Charizard. Mewtwo just sat there useing barrier as I smacked him around XD)

The thing about most first rival battles is like tackle, scratch, tackle, scratch, tackle, scratch, tackle KO
You did a tackle/leer thing, added blood into it, close call and BAM. One of the best rival battles I've read.

now that i think of it, your actually right about the tackle-scratch cat fights that most first rival battles are. but doing something like that wouldn't really fit the personnalities of the two battling pokemon, that would look ridiculous xD
