Pitnerd, you've misunderstood what this text says.

Small Explanation: Another of the disciples said to Him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father (collect my inheritance).” But Jesus said to him, “Follow Me [believing in Me as Master and Teacher], and allow the [spiritually] dead to bury their own dead.”

Big Explanation:

Luke 9:59 Christ had said to this man, Follow me, to which command he replied, as is here stated, "Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father"(LITERAL TRANSLATION) — His meaning seems to be, Suffer me to continue at home with my father, who is far advanced in years, till I have performed the last filial office to him, in committing his body to the dust: for it does not appear that his father was already dead. But Jesus said, Follow me — Namely, immediately; and let the dead bury their dead — Let such as are dead in sin, spiritually dead, being insensible to the concerns of their souls and eternity, employ themselves in interring their deceased relatives and friends: or, leave the business of the world to those that are alive to it, and dead to God and things divine.

P.S. (In these times of this area, the son would often get a blessing(Portion, inheritance, land, money, basically whatever the father left behind.) after his father died.

P.S.S. The last thing I want to note is that this whole passage is talking about the cost to following Jesus. He says a whole lot of important things in this. You either follow Christ with everything or nothing. There is no half way point. All or nothing. And Jesus says multiple times that we should count the costs and understand the kind of decision you are making -Matthew 6:24.

That's kind of taken out of context. The point Jesus was trying to make to his disciple is that if he was going to follow Jesus he had to put aside all other things, which is still a pretty bad massage but not as bad.

I love it when you display the Bible by its own description people are so quick to argue that you can't take what the bible says literally. That has got to be the greatest joke to all theism in question.

I could easily argue that "...what Jesus really meant was he didn't give a fuck about funeral and could give fuck-all if anyone took him seriously (it's not clear enough to be for sure he didn't mean that)..."

Also, I find it amusing that critics in the comment section below are so quick to pass judgement on a cartoonist with a sense of humor. They are so quick to condemn, to damn, and to pass their own sense of judgement on the character of the artist without even meeting him or her. This is why I left religion. Nothing but a house full of self-loathing, condemning, self-righteous, overly zealous hypocrites who forgot the key lesson Jesus (the asshole) supposedly taught them: To love their fellow man.

Or maybe it's because the Bible manages to un-teach these lessons so easily as it... OH MY GOD, I think I found a glitch in the Matrix!

And it's a flat out lie that he was sin-less.
One of his most well-known stories is his property-damage incident - he was also very angry in that story. (Which is by his own standards to be considered a Hell-Worthy Trespass.)

But it doesn't surprise me, considering that He's the one in Hell torturing people, and NOT Satan.

My study Bible has a commentary on that verse.  When the guy said "I will follow you, but let me bury my father first." He wasn't saying that his dand had just died, rather, it was a figure of speech.  He was really saying "I will follow you, but not until my father has died of old age."

Hahaha okay I see what you see. But Jesus was only trying to remind the potential disciple to follow him.
This is funny how you criticize Jesus for being a "dick", without actually understanding why he said it and his bigger intention for his potential disciple. Surely these verses speak for itself. That the expiring bury the expired, hence Jesus wished this particular to follow him and break all ties with the world.

Pretty sure is hard for most people to see this form and directly criticize Jesus of Nazareth because of countable individuals who abuse this religion, that's why Jesus spoke of the parable of the sower (Matthew chapter 13). The narrow because of not quoting the entire verses, and only citing one sentence, and manipulating the imagery to condone an atmospheric cliché of being a "dick" with no elaborate reason. Good job! Nice propaganda, I'll be looking for you in the end to see what you will become sir, and for that matter anyone else here feels they got so much hate for Jesus and Christians, just because of several historical and self-proclaimed individuals who got greedy for wealth and power concludes Christianity as a most degenerative ideology and theology in the entire world, and scapegoating the Christian faith for all your problems. Meanwhile at the same time when you do something that's bad or being a dick to someone else doesn't matter, everyone else acting all high and prideful and pointing your fingers at us Christians and using unreasonable narrow minded reasons to facilitate hate speeches and self-appraising attitudes without looking at yourself in the mirror.

Before you look at and judge others, go and look at yourself and what you have done to others!

In any case good artwork, it makes me understand better now how modern atheism, anti-theist, Satanists and non-Christian finalize their conclusion based on narrow perspectives. Now I know I'm in the right path since being a Christian for only several years I finally find the flaws within the human spectrum outside the realm of יְהֹוָה .

Well what we think we know about Jesus is the result of the First Council of Nicaea and following "censure", and of course about or own interpretation of the Bible. From what I learned, he wasn't (if he ever lived... I have my doubts) about love and so, he was what we now call activist. In that job, you cannot succeed by bying nice and peacefull...
