Description
Matthew 8:21-22It's an absolute myth that the Jesus character was pure love. He was often cruel and mean to his own family and his would-be disciples as well.

I'm already mad at you with practically everything without your satire comments and you don't really seem to use reason and logic with anyone who disagrees to your views, care to explain for that? you just use mocking quotes, pictures, possible a damn meme when someone is trying to start a fire war and you use those three things to put it out, also when i was digging through the comments of this inaccurate picture, i see you cursing on this person about people and soil, i don't remember it completely but you might see my point here,
I'll boil it down for your simple ego, your a all knowing bitch who is too proud to admitting to some subjects.

Jesus never existed, there's no valid source that he ever lived. It's pure fictional character.

I personally believe there's two Jesuses. The historical one that was instrumental in the founding of Christianity, and the mythological Jesus that can walk on water, turn water into wine, and feed an entire society with only enough to make, what, 10 fish sandwiches? Oh, and was able to be resurrected in a time where medical technology hadn't advanced enough to do so. Even today, it's virtually impossible.
I hate the mythological Jesus. I don't believe he ever existed or would ever be able to exist.

Wow, that's a loaded question. There is A LOT wrong with me, but even more so with the person who believes in the fairy tale of Jesus of Nazareth even being a real person (instead of an amalgam of various messianic figures of that era) and especially that he was THE son of god, and also god himself, demanding his own blood in order to appease himself for being mad at humanity for eating a piece of fruit that he, being omnipotent and omniscient, knew they were going to eat in the first place. Doesn't quite make sense unless you're willing to abandon reason and critical thinking.
Thanks for commenting!

Really? Cause what proof do you have that he NEVER existed and he wasn't the son of God? It may seem like a "fairy tail" to some, but if this belief makes people happy why ruin it for them? Would you tell a child that what they believe in isn't real? Why would he give his blood? Simple because God created us so his blood is our and he is both son and father. There is three parts of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and they are created from him. God put the fruit in the garden to test Adam and Eve because they have free will. God didn't know one path for them, he knew two. It was their choice to choose and he gave them that choice and they chose our path. For reasoning and critical thinking is it right for a parent to force their child to do certain things or isn't it best to let them choose for themselves. There is nothing wrong with my faith in Jesus or with anyone else faith.

i get atheists not believing in god but there's a fine line being ok to going too far, i know Jesus Christ might exist or not because there's still a debate over it so there's no real answer yet and Jesus was pictured as an "anti hero" (still a hero but doesn't follow the ideals of a hero you would expect) but you can't just say things like that i mean come on, i heard of a man killed his entire family try to try to cover up a lie that he made up pretending as a medical professional, just to boil down what i'm saying here, Jesus wasn't a dick but he wasn't perfect that's for sure or possible the son of god, but hey, no one's truly perfect.

He once said "Honor thy mother and father"...then somewhere else says that "To stand with me is to stand against his family" or something along those lines...the fact that he also said "He who is with me is against me" really shows how intolerance can be bred by this...

:sigh:...and by that definition Hitler was a great leader , he brought Germany out of its WW1 depression.
One line, taken completely out of its context, does not in any possible way make your religious fantasy's true.

You can't deny, though, that such a flippant remark seems out of place for someone who's supposed to be the epitome of compassion and wisdom. Like it or not, the Jesus character portrayed in the Gospels was anything but: moody, egocentric and callous, he was pro-slavery, sexist, racist, anti-family, anti-hygiene, thought finite actions were deserving of infinite punishment, and had such disregard for authority that it can be argued that he committed suicide by cop.
If Jesus truly was the son of a perfect God, that one line ("taken completely out o its context") shouldn't be there at all.

my rebuttal boiled down to... Bullshit!!! check the context. the guy in question was basically asking for Jesus to stop his ministry while he went and looked after his Father/inheritance for an indeterminable amount of time. Point in fact, unless his father dropped dead right there, the father would have already been buried by the time Jesus talked to this guy. this was the modern day equivalent of Volunteering to go fight Ebola, but asking All the Doctor's/Nurse's to wait while he goes make sure the Nursing home knows what to do when dad dies. oh and make sure the house is in order, and etc., etc...

Maybe I'll be able to re-write this later...
Note: Burial occurred within a few hours of death, regardless if # or % of family members present.

Funerals in the first century AD were not protracted rituals where families mourned during viewing of the embalmed body in a wake before depositing the deceased in the ground within a polished, heavy, expensive casket. Tribal societies, especially the subsistence class living in the fucking desert, pretty much shoved their dead in ground as soon as the corpse got stiff because even the superstitious shepherds of antiquity knew that rotting bodies breed disease.
In the cited story, the man was not asking for time to finish putting his dead pops in his grave. It was another way of asking if he could just wait until his father died before joining Jesus as a disciple. Jesus refused him thus not out of callousness but because the man wouldn't have the fortitude to face the condemnation, attacks, and difficulties that preaching novel religious ideas to a community deeply entrenched in its ways and under the thumb of foreign rulers obsessed with stability and order at all levels of their imperium may entail. He needed disciples who were willing to leave their families behind to face the world, which isn't an easy decision, but just one of the troubles one might face as a vocal religious minority.
I'm no Christian, having rejected faith of all kinds over a decade ago, but that doesn't mean I can't feel intellectually abraded by the obnoxious fedora-tipping on display here.

Doesn't really look like you have the have the critical thinking skills to accuse Christian apologists of being unreasonable, bro.

I know it's difficult handle when you're accustomed to debating with illiterate evangelists and home-school tartlets who respond to satire with raw anger and suddenly you're confronted with a read individual who came to his conclusions by comparing critiques of religion with the responses of the apologists.
You should still try justifying the smug claims to being a more rational individual with coherent statements instead of trying to emote away the incompetence, because you cannot present yourself as a qualified skeptic when you can't articulate a response proving all of your comments on this page about why "Jesus was dick" to be wrong. It just means that, much like a fundamentalist zealot, you can't into coping with being proven wrong.
