NOTE- Moved to Scraps.At this point, I think everyone has seen these photos of the Walmart posters and/or they've been recreated and reposted to the moon and beyond. These posters are NOT my work, I claim no ownership, copywrite, or responsibility. They're just amature photos of awesome, amazing, absolutely incredible posters. my goal was just to give everyone a chance to see and enjoy them.
The other three beautiful posters were designed by AllSpark Forums user Nayuki-[link] This map, however, was designed by some other extremely talented and wholly awesome artist! If I find out who it is, I will post the info here.

The show was never made with a set geography other than Canterlot being north of Ponyville. In all honesty Hasbro could have just thrown this together and not cared about it. Locations on many areas have fluctuated throughout the show.
The only real inaccuracy i see is the location of Dodge City...shouldn't it be more north or west of Canterlot.
Just remember 2 things to stop your panties from getting in a bunch. Fannon isn't Cannon. and if Lauren Faust didn't draw the map it isn't really reliable.
Don't mind what HASBRO has done but Studio B is the real ones to love because they brought this show to life.

Distance between locations was set, canterlot and Apploosa are the same distance from ponyville in the show.

I love all of the little touches on this that just make it all the more awesome. For example, the inclusion of "Vanhoover" as a clear ponification of Vancouver, the city where the animators and some of the voice talent are from.

well, Trixie might be a loud-mouth, but she must've mentioned a town that sounds familiar in order to sound believable... like a far, small town on either the north or south borders

It's really a neat map that AllSpark Forums made, it gives it's viewers a idea of what Equestria could be like, and maybe even give others a few story ideas
However in the episode it's about time, Twilight Sparkle encountered Cerberus a three headed dog from the underworld, where would that fit in, in the MLP universe?

I'm disappointed, as far as world-building goes. The canon world leaves much to be desired for a realistic fantasy setting. Then again, it is for little girls, but we should impress good world-building into our children's minds while we still can!
I'm glad there's now a "canon" layout of Equestria. I will commence ignoring it immediately.
