Description
Gravix, suited up in the mechus combat titan(CT) Mechus is equipped with an arsenal of weapons: Dual multi round zamor sphere launchers, two shoulder mounted missile launchers, and when artillery doesn't get the job done he has a laser edge battle sword. Gravix is an experienced pilot and soldier. His ability to drive a CT suit surpasses any of his fellow toa. His skill projectile weapons contributes to this. Mechus is a a custom CT suit made specifically for Gravix's physiology and abilities. Mechus is no lumbering giant. While he isn't as agile and maneuverable as say Mototaur and Ryakk he can definitely move with speed. Mechus has three energy cores that power the suit. Two built into the calves and one smaller one on the back. The ammo for any CT suit when on the battle fieldSeveral things went into inspiring the look feel, and function of this MOC. I was thinking Power loader from aliens seen here [link] for the interface of the two characters, as well as the front cage design, as well as the matrix's APU seen here [link] for some of the look of the Mech over all, all that with a little japanese style mech thrown in with the look of armor and accents. I had Built gravix gravix and thought he would make a good mech pilot. HEHEHE I was right.

Thanks Greg. I like the green and black as well. This one is also fun to work on, and for some reason, easier as well.

thanks. I think what's easier about working on him is that there's less to work on cause mechus is so hollow. Its mostly all built around gravix so there's a lot of space where my other two are solid. My fave is still Ryakk just cause he was the first and he's the most filled out, then its a tie between mechus and mototaur. they both have things about them I like. of the three who do you like more, if you had to pick one?

Hmm, so were most of these tweaks internal with structure and moveability? Certainly would be a must for any toa thinking to face Ryakk or Mototaur.

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Seconds-Design [2010-05-20 07:50:24 +0000 UTC]
Ummm no not all of them I recently re did the shoulder armor to allow for more mobility. Then uhh lets see, the original "first draft" didn't have all the green parts on it. Just the see through ones. I added those cause I redid gravix with the green parts on his body, so I was fitting to add that color to mechus. Then the rest was all structural stuff. in fact what I got going on structurally with mechus's back isn't working to my favor so I'm gonna re do it. I added mobility in the spine when it used to be solid. Now I'm thinking of limiting the mobility to just rotational movement cause it doen't really need three dimensional movement like it has. I want the upper torso to rotate so he could sorta run sideways or twist his body but the being able to also move forward and backwards is a problem cause the torso slouvhes forward cause all the weight is set forward from the support. The spine in the back is what's holding up the arms and the cockpit cage which is all set forward. with gravix inside its not to much of a problem, but I don't like it. I think I'll eliminate the forward and back wards and do just a free spinning uper torso so if gravix turns mechus turns freely with him.
As always there's a hypothetical element to bioncicles so in a hypothetical situation the current design would work fine and all my designs would work its just they have no internal strength. I you stand on your feet and you start to lean forward then you contract muscles to keep yourself from falling over. well hypothetically bionicles would do the same. Realistically though the don't so they just fall over.

A lot of work all around then with more to come. Making the upper torso rotate sounds like a good idea to me, I think looking at a lot of mech vehicle types that they often have that kind of feature.
Wouldn't that be nice if they did though

Yeps Thank you. This one was actually easier to put together and make work than I thought it was going to me. When I decided to do a mech suit bionicle I thought I was gonna face a tone of problems but I didn't. It still doesn't work perfectly in the arms, they don't really sync up but yeah this one came together nicely. And thanks for the comments.

1 Cool, so is he a bionicle fan, and are you as well?
2 I have a room full of bionicles and its kinda nice, kinda a pain in the ass. I have all these parts, but they're not all parts I can do a lot of these really cool MOCs. I have all these cool "for looks" pieces or parts that have limited functionality to them, but I lack more of the structural and functional parts that lets me put the rest of the cool parts together. I got all these good parts, but I'm lacking the nuts and bolts to put them together.
3 I find that somewhat annoying sometimes. I'll get "wow" or that's cool" comments and to me that's useless. I like constructive comments on my stuff. I like to know why my MOCs are good or what specifically people like about them. But wow is still nice to. its like "thanks, but that was useless."

Thanks. No he doesn't its a major pain in the ass getting him out. I actually need to go back and redesign the part of Mechush that holds Gravix's feet into the legs of Mechus. He's held in at the torso from the back and at both feet. Then his hands hold onto the arms controls.

Ah I see. I'm working on something like that with a friend, but we're having problems finding an artist to back us up. Know anyone who would be willing to do a web comic?
Ah I see that sucks. I started playing with regular legos when I was 2 then when bionicle came out almost 10 years ago I got into those and I've just been working bionicle since then. I haven't stopped doing it because why stop at something you're good at right? So I'll keep doing it. Bionicle is changing, but its not really going away so I'll keep on building and MOCing.

Yeah but its a comic that we were doing. It was written as a comic story line. and its a comedic one. The story on its own wouldn't do to well.

Levia-the-Dragon In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2010-03-16 23:53:00 +0000 UTC]
Wll you could try to convert it... visual aspects to description via text can be done, and even retain the humour of the situration if done cleverly.

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Levia-the-Dragon [2010-03-17 02:22:59 +0000 UTC]
Yeah I just don't see that happening. I think a lot of the jokes and stuff are too visual. The comic would basically be Family guy meets zombie movie.

Levia-the-Dragon In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2010-03-17 05:27:04 +0000 UTC]
Huh, well that sounds like an interesting mix...
The story I have in mind is kind of Doctor Who meets Avatar the Last Airbender... it works better than it sounds... so there would also be a lot of visual moments but I THINK I could make it work in written form...

Yeah. actually a new animated show JUST premiered today called ugly americans and that is a lot like what our show would probably be. Like a lot of the humor is the same. It would be different in some respects but the kind of jokes they make are kinda like what we are doing. As for Dr. who meets avatar, that sound interesting. Avatar is one of my favorite animated shows. I religiously watched it and still watch reruns even though I've seen them a zillion times. Love that show.

Yeah, I quite enjoy it too, the character development, occasional humor, stunning elemental battles and ever-so-slight possibility of a follow-up all work well, plus you've got to love a series that does it's own self-parody episode, thus putting all parodies to follow on a downhill disadvantage.
Sucks that Sokka lost the Moon-sword though... that kind of burned me.

Oh yeah. THe animation was top notch for a TV series, the music scores were huge, they way they actually incorporated four different styles kung fu into the show was cool. Yeah in season three they had that parody thingy. Its cool when a show can laugh at itself.
Yeah that was a cool sword. I think if they do a follow up there's gonna be way they bring it back.
