Description
Update(3-13-13)I updated Hyder's photos and edited them into my current collage format. The only changes I made to the MOC is removing the painted Kanohi Huna Mask for a non-painted one. There wasn't much difference anyways. Before you say anything, yes I know his sphere shield looks like a .
about the MOC
Hyderbawl(hider ball) was one of my three submissions to 's Return to Scrapworld Contest.
Updated(3-13-13) Hyderbawl was my first ever Matoran build, as well as my first real attempt at the smaller end of the MOCing spectrum. Even though Hyderbawl was retroactively built, he contains only parts dating to 2004 or older. I have no plans to update him using more modern parts.
Scrapworld Bio
Hyderbawl is a Survivor. He's immune to the mutagen and hasn't been killed yet thanks to his sphere shield. When the sphere shields are connected/closed they complete a circuit that gives him special sonar so he can sense what's happening outside of the sphere. The shields are also motorized so he can roll around when they're open. Therefore If its legal I'm gonna classify this as a vehicle to because the shields aren't actually a part of his body, as shown in the third picture.
Personality wise Hyderbawl is very timid, cautious, and kind of cowardice. He gets scared very easily, but when it comes to his friends he will stand up to a fight.
Hyderbawl Was a Ta-metru Matoran before the apocalypse. Because of his astonishing defensive abilities he would travel though the furnaces of ta metru when somethhing would break in them internally and were too hot for most other matoran to go into. Now in scrap world he is a scout/locater for hire/trade for any survivor squad. He helps only people who are not scraps. He most often shadows Piravir since most if not all the survivor squads want to know what he's doing or where he's going. The biggest advantage to Hyderbawl's sphere shields is he can hide in the plainest of sights with his rather inauspicious looking sphere. This allows him to get closer to dangerous characters like piravir and the suffering while still living to report his findings.

Makuta doesn't need to put him in one of those balls. He just needs to put him to sleep with dark magic while he's in ball form.

Hehe, true. Unless it is some kind of energy beam. Then Hyder's shell will protect him from it. But if he gets zapped before he can close it off. You're right all balled up already.

Thank...you....very...much.
No I'm not trying to be a dick. Really, thank you. I'm glad you like it. I just wish I had used a different color scheme now cause everyone called it a pokeball/pokemon.

I didn't make that connection until after reading the description, it's ignorance that leads to people thinking just that. Never mind that to some it looks like a Pokeball, what's important is that you used the lids of the Metru canisters that no-one else thought of, you deserve a MOCing medal my friend.

Thanks, again. I've honestly never seen anyone use one of these as a part, yet it's got the one pin hole. It's not the only canister element to have actual connection points either. Makes me wish I kept more of my canisters.

Hehe. I'd say "send them to me" but that would be expensive since you live in the UK. I'd like to get four of the same colored one of the metru canisters,(brown being the least preferred) and make a tron lightcycle inspired MOC from them.

I said they were in the loft, I didn't say I wanted to get rid of them. But that MOC is a good idea though.

Ooooh. I see. Well like I said wouldn't matter international shipping is esspensive. Most of my other boxes and canisters are in garbage bags shoved in my MOC room's closet.

As you may know, the original McDonalds Matoran (or the Tohunga) are very hard to find, and when you do find them they are very expensive, but I found someone on eBay selling all six of them for nothing more than a meer Β£30! The fella was sitting on a goldmine, and I brought that goldmine for peanuts!

Nice. www.bricklink.com/browseList.a⦠They're not that expensive though. Most of the ones listed on here are sealed, so unless you got yours that way, that's about what all 6 unsealed would go for I'd imagine.

Yeah, and even if they weren't sealed, Β£30 is a price collectors could only dream of for all six Tohunga, I mean I saw one listing from Germany trying to sell Matoro, and that's just Matoro on his own,Β for nearly Β£60!

Well there's the thing, someone gets the word that something is rare and they jack the price up do you remember this LEGO Batman set? img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20β¦Β People on eBay are trying to sell this for Β£300! The set was from 2004 and it was worth Β£50 then! So there's no way it's worth that much.

yeah. but the new masks and the way the armor attaches is good, and the new weapons too, like furno's sword, thats an interesting piece that im pretty sure didn't exist before.

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to hellfire1999 [2014-05-02 03:31:44 +0000 UTC]
The masks are hit and miss for me. But the the way the standardized skeletal system works is very practical. It allows for a much more rigid, stable, yet flexible construction than Bionicle did. Its not without it's shortcomings though. HF paints in much broader strokes aesthetic wise, and is very limited when it comes to textures and overall dynamics in its armor elements. That's where bionicle makes up for it. Together both cancel out each other's negatives and makes for a very intuitive system.

π: 0 β©: 1
Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to shadowtheconquerer0 [2013-08-18 04:38:39 +0000 UTC]
Thank you. He mainly uses it for defense cause he's a little scardy cat and avoids conflict, but if he does have to fight, yeah he'd use it to gain momentum and then ram people with it. Kinda like a wreaking ball with a brain.

shadowtheconquerer0 In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2013-08-18 16:08:12 +0000 UTC]

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to shadowtheconquerer0 [2013-08-20 09:29:04 +0000 UTC]
Kinda yeah. It's more like a one direction kinda thing, and he can shift around so it curves. Its also meant for hiding out in junk piles. These kind of canisters are supposed to be somewhat common so if one is laying around motionless in a pile of junk, no one really suspects anything.
π: 0 β©: 1
shadowtheconquerer0 In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2013-08-24 18:44:39 +0000 UTC]
So the ball can be used for offense, defense, AND camouflage! This thing is the epitome of versatile! btw where'd u get the canister lids? i looked all around bricklink for em, but i can't seem to find them.
