Description
About The MOCThis is a MOC I made on a whim after seeing Donna Liem's Quad Bike and thinking I could improve on the design. I initially just wanted to recreate it as best as possible but get at least steering into the design. After looking at photos of ATV's on my laptop while building it. I realized Donna's MOC's tires were way too big for such a small bike. And it just kinda devolved more into taking more inspiration from actual ATV's. The ending result is this. It has functional steering. I could maybe try and get suspension in there on the back wheels but I decided this was enough. I built this in the course of two days(two MOCing sessions so maybe a few hours all together).
I was going to wait to make a rider for it but with Bricks By the Bay only a day away I wanted to get this up here before I head off to that. The MOC is called TipperΒ because ATV's are notorious for tipping over if turning too sharply, factor in that the front wheel base is wider than the rear's, this one would be even worse.
Check out the Tipper's rider, Benji .

Aw man, I was going to make a quad bike Nice build though, and you fit steering in, which is sweet.
BTW, have you heard from that contest on Paul's Technic blog? That's what I'm waiting on before I build my ATV

I've wanted to make one for a while to. I had one a Looooong time ago that I made for throwbots figure, but it was bigger than this because I used the balloon tires. So I've had a hankerin' for another ATV in my MOC collection for since I saw that ATV set and remembered I had built myself one back in the throwbots/robo riders days. So this scratches that itch, but I know I could do better if I made it bigger, get more features in there. But for this dinky little one, I'm happy its got steering and that like Donna's MOC its based off the HF 1.0 torso part as the frame.
And no I haven't. I assume that he either picked someone, contacted them and sent it out, forgot, or just backed out on giving it away. He coulda at least made an announcement about it. Oh well, nothing ventured nothing gained they say. And its not like we were guaranteed to win it. So I wouldn't have made plans based on winning it. Its better to assume you're gonna come out the loser and be pleasantly surprised than to set your hopes on winning only to be disappointed.

Well I'm quite interested to see what you do about a driver. any ideas so far?
I was just holding off because I didn't want to commit to buying the parts I need if I might've won them. Suppose I'll start waiting for a sale at Toysrus then.

Yeah actually. A guy totally off his Rocker. Benji the dirt surfer. That's the idea at least, and I'm thinking Mixel eyes will be involved.
You might be waiting a long time then. Technic sets rarely go on Sale at TRU, they're one of the most marked up sets in lego and they only get more expensive on the second hand market. I couldn't find that ATV for very cheap on Ebay or BL.

Wow, you really made an awesome ATV MOC here ! The color scheme goes very well in my opinion, I like the smart use of some of the parts also, like the 2001 Matoran feet to make the back part.

Tough call, alot of the FOC molds felt flimsy and poorly thought out (not to mention the poor grade of materials that were used). But the saving grace of that set is that it has really nice paint work. It's not something I'd recommend to most people, but I didn't have any other versions of those toys, and they look good on a shelf.

I immediately thought of the Mongoose from the Halo series when I saw this. (They better have a Tipper Mongoose skin for Halo 5) Anyways, it's a fairly solid MOC. Purple on Yellow has always been a solid color scheme, as Evo 2.0 proved. Props for actually making use of those otherwise worthless McToran/Tohunga feet for a spoiler look on the back. My only problem would have to be the rear lights, mainly the one in the middle that sticks up. Again, solid vehicle MOC.
