Description This is my second submission to 's Triumph of Scrapworld contest.

Scrapworld Bio
Matteo, once a powerful Makuta was yet another notable victim to the mutagen, turning him into a disfigured slave to the horde. Matteo went from being another scrap beast, wondering the wastelands of Bara Magna to becoming Arachnes's pet. Peering into the mind that used to be she found him peculiar and interesting. "Such a dignified mind would be delightfully cruel jest." So she made him her puppet. reshaping his body, leaving just enough biological components to sustain his life, and just enough of the mechanical ones to have limited movement inside a wooden casing made of wood from a few trees recovered from what was left of the jungles of Aqua-magna.
As Arachne stripped away the infected parts of his body, and thereby the mutagen, Matteo slowly reclaimed his mind, such was her intent.
I know not what is a worse fate, having become a slave to that terrible mutagen, or having survived it, only to return to a body that is not my own. ~Dottore Matteo"

about the MOC
I've wanted to do this for a while. In the picture of Arachne(linked above) You can see that there is "mini-Matteo-nette", which I still have, but is no longer strung. This was my first attempt at this concept. After trying it out with him, I knew that I had wanted to come back to this idea and reattempt this concept since I wasn't satisfied with the results. This version is a lot better, but still has some slight issues. Once I have more string parts, I may give this a version two update. But overall, I'm very satisfied with the MOC.

Thanks Ben. Yeah that was a pretty fun challenge. Matteonette is a blast to play with to. I'd like to get a bunch more string elements some day and make the cords really long So he is more like a real marionette. Maybe move the leg functions to their own yolk to.

Well luckily those are both common colors for system. So that shouldn't be too hard. Its getting more of the string elements that proves difficult. I need more tan for the control sticks to. I just cobbled them together, but I'd like to make nicer looking ones at some point as well.

I love the contrast between the two versions, at first I couldn't even tell the difference! I get a very Legend of Zelda puppet boss feeling from it, which I really like a lot. Nice use of the clock on the Bio version! xD A tip for photographing reds - don't put them on a white background. Put them on dark grey, it allows the camera to focus better on not blowing out the reds and keeping details instead of trying to filter out the white glow. Also, great use of the lego strings, that was a very nice touch.

Holy shit...How did I never reply to this? Well, three months later and I finally see it when browsing previous MOC's comments. I'm sorry Chris.

I've never played Legend of Zelda so I don't get the reference. Link please? HAHA get it?

Yeah I've seen some MOCers use dark grey backrounds, they're a nice medium between white and black. I really need to get me some kind of new background that isn't the lightbox. What kind of material could I use for a good smooth background but also be large enough for some of my bigger MOCs? Does Micheal's sell large pieces of like posterboard or card stock? I've seen MOCers use some kind of material where its smoothly bent up from the ground to the wall, and in dark grey, but I don't know what material they're using or where to get it. :/

Raps555 In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2013-06-10 21:28:46 +0000 UTC]

Quite alright. :3

You could use a couple different things. What I use is just a large white posterboard like you'd find at almost any grocery or drugstore that sells school supplies, but if you wanted gray, your best bet would be Michaels, yeah. If you pick up some wooden dowels, you can make a wooden armature to keep the stock nicely bent with a flat bit down at the bottom to set things on.

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Raps555 [2013-06-12 06:37:10 +0000 UTC]

Ah okay, I'll have to check that out. What I'd actually like would be something where I can swap in and out colors as I need them, white for dark MOCs, black for light, grey for in between's or MOCs that have both light and dark. So maybe even two shades of Grey, light and dark. I use that blue insert on the light box and that's alright, but I find that much blue in the background a bit distracting. Something more Neutral would be nice.

I'm confused about what you mean by "wooden armature" like a frame that holds it all together on the sides?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Raps555 In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2013-06-24 14:45:01 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I was thinking like a basic wooden armature shaped vaguely like a chair frame (two upright L shapes with cross bars between them) with pins in strategic places on it, and then you could punch holes in the cardstock you use for the background and slip it on so it doesn't move.

Thanks. Not only did I make a puppet of Matteo, I made a marionette without using non lego parts. That's what I'm really proud of with this MOC.

Hehe. Thank you. You really should browse my gallery some day. Your gallery is pretty small, all fits on one page for me. But I also have my page setting set to 100 per page cause of the premium account. But still, your gallery is small.

And FYI he does work as a marionette. I've since repositioned the connections of the leg strings to better make his legs work. Now I just need to get more string parts so that I can do dual control sticks and really be able to make him move right.

Aaaaand I just figured out how deviantart works. I seriously did not notice that when you look in the gallery it's on 'featured' by default. I thought I had seen everything!

*sigh* it's gonna be a long day.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to st3vethesquid [2012-11-09 00:17:38 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. The main page is the featured. Then there's the folders on the sides. And now premium members have access to sub folders, so I do have a few things separated into sub folders. But browse does put everything in chronological order descending from most recent.

Well I haven't seen any new comments, so I'm guessing you haven't bit the bullet and browsed yet?

Not quite as well as I'd like with the legs. But they should actually have their own separate control stick. But I'd need more string parts to make that work. Oh well. Its good enough for me.

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to MrElectrog64 [2012-08-08 17:16:05 +0000 UTC]

A little bit. Most the arms. The legs are awkward to make work but that's be cause I put it all on one control stick. To make a real puppet work you have a separate stick for the legs. But I would have needed more sting parts. So for now, this is how it is. It does work though.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

MrElectrog64 In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2012-08-10 02:24:45 +0000 UTC]

also, the awkward legs might work to your advantage, you could have him like a more of a scary pupet that is being pulled and drags his feet to move, almost as if he were floating, even though he kinda always does that since he's a pupet.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to MrElectrog64 [2012-08-10 12:16:20 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm yeah. I suppose that works to. In the story(scrapworld) Matteo gets infected by the mutagen, turned into a scrap beast, then Arachne takes his mind and infuses it into this big puppet she created from wood(or the bionicle equivalent) and controls him using her psychic abilities. So that would actually be plausible. Thanks for the idea.

Oh, I see. Thanks. He's my favorite MOC, and in my opinion, my most interesting character. I love the little guy. He's a lot of fun to work with. I think the next thing I'll do for him is some sort of vehicle. I'd like to make his dirigible, but that'd be too involved. Maybe a gyro copter or some cooky contraption like that. What do you think?

Okay, something flying...like what? I kinda need someone to bounce ideas off of. If you were going to make a flying vehicle of some sort for Matteo what would be, and how would you go about it?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Alex-Darkrai In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2012-04-02 09:22:22 +0000 UTC]

I would go with an airship, but for Matteo it would have to be amazingly big ...
Or maybe just a balloon?
I could also imagine something like those flying machines drawn by da vinci.
