Description In which I draw an apocalyptic scene between one of my "characters" (a planet, of course), and ValleyVix 's OC, Vix.  Is the Fox Nebula the harbinger of doom for a once Earth-like planet?  Or is that Vix's spirit, gazing down on a long-dead Earth, millions of years in the future?

On the title: foxes are renowned for their cleverness, but it often comes back to bite them.  Humans, too, are often too clever for our own good.  If we are extremely lucky, we'll be just clever enough to keep from annihilating ourselves with our own technology

And yeah, those are rivers of blood across a frozen, ashy wasteland.  Was going for lava, but that's *definitely* blood now.  How does that make sense?  Does it have to?

This is for Vix's contest, here: valleyvix.deviantart.com/journ…

I used this image for the fox: www.flickr.com/photos/43158397… (found on photosforclass.com)
I also used brushes by RockMaster , Icecrack , GlennClovis , Luminya and 8aq2 for the nebula, swirling fractals, and the stars.

Hey! ProjectComment brought me here~ My tag word was: White~

I chose this piece because well, it would be pretty obvious. :') I like how even though there's a lot of white in this piece, you manage to make it flow and work well. <3 I really, really like how you manage to work the white smoke-like background in the Fox nebula, making the placement rather seamless.

I can't say much in the anatomy of the fox, but i think the back legs are a bit off? It looks pretty good though. Maybe make the colors a little bit brighter though, since it seems too... dead? I mean, I get that the scene is apocalyptic but it would do well to make the colors focus more on Vix than the red background that my eyes seem to linger more on. Actually, th red part of the background looks a little off to me too, for some reason. Maybe this is because of the white smoke that covers nearly all of the piece, and the black, starry background that comes with it.

Another thing that I did notice, in terms of planets, is that it looks more like veins than rivers, but that's probably what you're going for and it's pretty cool. :') Imo it looks like the back of an eye ball, with the rivers seeming to focus on a spot at the back. Also, I noticed that in your description, you said that this was once an Earth-like planet? It's just a suggestion but maybe add some small details to make it look less plain and more barren, like a different shade of grey on some areas to make the planet look like it was once a forest, things like that. I do like the black smoky wisps that encircle it though, it makes the planet look very dead (or dying). Maybe add some near the top too, though, to make it look slightly more even all throughout the sphere. I also suggest adding some of said smoke to the front of the planet too, just to make it look like the planet wasn't simply placed in front of the piece!

Overall though I like this. <3 You definitely did the apocalyptic feel for it very well! I hope my comment helps you out~

You're right -- it *does* look like an eyeball when seen from behind!  I never noticed that.  Thanks for the comment, I do need to work on the focal points in my pieces.

Thanks!  Tweaked the fox fur a bunch to try and get it into Vix's colors -- didn't *quite* succeed, but I had an absolute blast doing this one.  So glad you like it!
