So, they got to Aqualus and like Harvest mentioned, they wouldn't have gotten much farther since she caught up with them pretty fast. So now begins the last fight of the Shining Consequence (at least for a while), Aqualus vs Crystal. We saw Aqualus spar earlier and he had no problem easily doing circles around Harvest. Aqualus is one of the young characters, but unlike the other ones, he is a good fighter and also enjoys it quite a bit too. He doesn't hit as hard as say Blaze does due to his age, but he's skilled none the less.So I spent a lot of time with background techniques this time around. Last time the lake was more like an ocean, it went on forever behind them. I want Lake Crystalis to be a large one, but it's not supposed to go on forever. So i added some hills in the distance. So like before still playing with the grass technique. Last time I used a technique I liked but it didn't look quite right. All the previous times, I used the Photoshop grass tool. it looks good but, like I said before I want to get away from relying on it and use my own technique. Well, this time I tried something a bit different. It did involve the Photoshop grass tool but it also involved a modified version of the technique used last time with it to give the field an uneven, hilly appearance and some depth too. I think the two look really good together. I haven't exactly mastered this technique, so it's a bit rough looking here but I think it looks much better and will look much better in the future.
Oh well, hope you enjoy. Next time, Aqualus takes on Aydrian (who has been restored since his encounter with Blaze).
*Oh, and technically the fight doesn't start till the next page, so this is another page with no fighting in it done this year. So many fights recently

wow, I can see that you spended more time and effort on the backgrounds! Not only great looking grass, but also the texture on the mountains?
WOW! ...if I overlooked that from before, pardon. But now it's clearly to see and even if the background are not the main focus on the scene like in landscape panels, they're so nice to look at~
and can I ask something, since I don;t see any "explanation" in the description?
What's your headcanon/fan-theory about shiny Pokemon sparkles? I see after Silver there might be something interesting, like emotions taking huge role in

It was discussed briefly in Ian and Tyler, but basically they don't really know, Tyler said he thinks it's an early warning system. It'll get explored more down the line.

Just one quick thing do all Pokemon know how to speak the same language as humans or just some and the whole stars around the shiny Pokemon thing is interesting to say the least, can't wait to hear your explanation.

In here and Solarshadow they all do including the trainer owned ones. Typically they don't say anything because I can't really think of anything for them to say. You can see Aydrean (the Hydreigon here) speak multiple times though, he speaks to Blaze, Crystal herself, and Tyler. Green's Typhlosion also muttered a few comments in How to Kill a Fairy ("Well that's embarrassing." and latter, "It's not my day."). Nymphia is also technically a trainer owned Pokemon, and she speaks just as much as any of the others do.
In Catch Me If You Can only some do, Mewtwo for instance can (he typically only speaks via telepathy but he can speak verbally too). None of the ones Red has could (or at least they didn't if they could, Jolteon for instance just yelped out Gahhh! before being hit with Aura Sphere. Think Tyranitar gave out a similar cry when he was taken out too). Catch Me If You Can is a separate stand alone story, whereas Solarshadow and Shining Consequence are set in the same universe, so the rules vary there. For the most part the Pokemon that speak are the ones most important to the plot (like Mew, Mewtwo, etc)
The stars was an explanation of why they come up when they enter battle, more or less it's kind of like the Spider sense in Spiderman, it's an early warning system. It doesn't work quite like that though, it'll get explored further on exactly why they pop up, but for now the only thing Tyler has mentioned is he thinks it's a warning system. He also asked Ian how he makes them not come up, so he doesn't have any control over it.

Thanks for that when I was talking about the talking in the same language I was only referring to this universe, but thanks for the extra information. Also one thing with the universe that Red is in could other powerful Psychic types like Newtwo, learn the human language, like perhaps Red Alakazam.
