Description     Learning to Track from Aura, so here she goes over the bulk of what she plans to teach him. I figured this would get pretty wordy, so to keep the comic interesting overall we'll be cutting back and forth between this scene and another more intense sequence to create some contrast int he narrative. That sequence will begin next time and will spark the return of a character we haven't seen in a while. I wanted to cover a good chunk of what she teaches him and his general response to what she has to say in this page though. I tried to summarize it, so if she left stuff out or didn't cover certain things, she'll go over those things in more detail off panel. This page is really more about establishing Tyler's state of mind and why he does what he does later on. Not to much else to say about it, hope you guys enjoy and more to come.

*Going on a short hiatus, will be announced when it's over on Monday*

I'm guessing that since Crystal is a trained poacher she's able to detect these slight disturbances?

Let's hope Tyler can train himself to stay well hidden, then!

That page was awesome and breath holdling , but I wonder, is real tracking really that sensitive? I have never informed myself about this, thought I am interested in it!

It can be, Aura has only gone over what things leave a sign, she hasn't talked to much about how to read one (she'll probably will do that off panel). For something like that, you would search for a sign, something like a leaf with a depression in it. You can usually tell the difference between a leaf that is normal vs one that had been stepped on by going low to the ground and seeing if the light reflects off of any of the leaves in an unusual way. After that, you'd look at the leaf in question and see if you can make out the imprints of a paw, hoof, foot, etc. they would usually leave a rounded compression in the back with some points in the front. Tyler has paws, four toes and probably would leave claw marks (though not necessarily in this case), so you would look to see if it has those features. If not, then you look elsewhere. If it does have those things, then you measure it. Tyler is about a foot or so tall, so his paw print would be maybe an inch and half or less, give or take a little for loss of detail due to age. If the depression is about that size, than you have a pretty good sign he went through there and a direction to go.
Tracking is pretty much looking for evidence something went through an area, how long ago and if that something is what you're looking for. Little signs like the one she talks about at the end would probably not be used to start searching with, you'd probably use those to figure out which way to go. You can use almost anything, some stuff is timed though and will fade or disappear before to long.

Thank you for the the Long explonation, Shows again how a thoughtful writer, drawer and designer you are. Really, you got my respect for the countless deep Details in your Story telling. Yea, that really Sound legit and isn't that hard to understand for an unschooled either as I recognize now, since it's only use of the regular mind. But from what I have seen from chasing Scenes, it's really hard to tell tracking once a being went some Long distance in a river. Sure, you could follow and find the spot he left, but in the films, series and Comics etc I have seen and all they always say don't even try once the come across water.

Thanks so much! generally speaking if the quarry hops in a river they have gotten away, since even though there are techniques to find them, you essentially have to start the tracking and trail finding thing all over again, which gives them time to put distance on you. Dogs with a good sense of smell can lower the effectiveness of that though.
