It's a fantasy series - "A song of Ice and fire" by George R.R. Martin. I'm generally not a fan of fantasy literature, but I think ASoIaF stands out - it's gritty, realistic and quite unpredictable (like, killing off the main character halfway through the story :-D). But most of all, I love that it has great characters and multiple points of view... I recommend it, although I can't know if that's your cup of tea

nice peice, the pose is great, as is the expression, but did u have to put spoilers in? i mean, u said urself part of the books greatness is its unpredictability....

How did you get that motion blur effect on the edges?

Well, if I remember correctly, it was really just a Blur filter in Photoshop. On the finished picture with the merged levels, I selected the parts where I did *not* want Bran to be blurred, inverted the selection and then applied the filter (which was Radial Blur, I suppose). I think that's all... Can't be sure, as this picture is actually a bit old.
