Dumbledore is gay. And totally not impressed by the fandom explosion.

technically, it IS canon because JK rowling herself was the one who said they were in a romantic relationship together. In a seperate interview I've never found and only heard of (so I don't know if this is 100% true or not) she went into a bit more detail about their relationship- Gellert was exceptionally intelligent and didn't get along well with other students because he found them dull and stupid, although he was a charmer. He was impressed by Albus' insane smarts that could actually match his own, and while Albus felt the same, he was also charmed by Gellert. Although they did have a true friendship, Gellert noticed Albus' attraction and most likely used it for his own advantage rather than for emotional reasons. Albus had been in love with him, but Gellert remains a mystery-it's implied that although Gellert did manipulate Albus, he still had true feelings for him deep down.

He also talked about how it was obvious that they're romantically involved, but since the film rating is 12A, there are obviously going to be no 'love-scenes."
Interestingly enough, the actor who plays gellert is actually engaged to the actress who plays ginny in real life

I feel bad for the way fans reacted to him being gay. He's still the same guy. And he's as masculine and as clean as they come. Let's keep his image that way.

What reaction? I'm not a slasher, but a lot of the HP fans I know are, and they were already writing Albus/Gellert anyway, so from my outside perspective nothing really changed

I wasn't really to bothered by it. It seemed natural, and it also seemed fitting. SO I see where it's coming from. It made me giggle. It's lovely. I mean, he was soo into Gallert! xD

I don't get why people were/are so mad, I mean Dumbledore is her character, just like my characters are mine and everyone else's characters are theirs. Being famous should not hinder your ablity to create your characters the way you want to *grumble*

Well, I suppose most of the criticism came from the fact that it was not *in the book* - it seemed like a way to act liberal, but without actually putting anything so "subversive" in canon. At least that's the major annoyance I got from my corner of fandom - of course mainstream media have been all "oooh! What, a gay character in a children's book?", obviously having never read fanfiction. :-D

My thoughts when I discovered Dumbledore was gay (came very rapidly and in this order):
1-whaaat!
2-although i guess it's cool he came out
3-And it kind of makes sense
4-...lots of sense.
3-i probably should have realised it earlier.
