Description
This is little gift for the awesome ~SilverFlameWanderer . It's her beautiful Gypsy Vanner character Khelek.I was at the park one day, sitting on a bench letting one of the dogs I petsit rest after a long walk. I picked up my mechanical pencil and drew a quick sketch in 5 minutes. I looked at the horse and saw Khelek, so it was pretty obvious the finished picture had to be of Khelek
I decided to go for my messy, stress releasing ink pen works for this one. I didn't feel ready to draw a full work at the time after not drawing decently for so long. And the paper wasn't the more appropriate kind for that either.
It's simple, but I like it. Hope you do too, Ash!

I absolutely ADORE this drawing! The style/shading is fabulous! Something I've realized lately about sketches is that sometimes they manage to capture more than a full-fledged, planned out drawing can in terms of movement and feeling. You've truly captured his spirit

Glad you think so! This was completely out of the blue, I had been wanting to draw Khelek for some time, but I didn't mean for that sketch to be him, it just happened! It's awesome. Actually, it happened with your The Wanderer once too at Portuguese class, I have a tiny sketch of her in my book, I've been meaning to upload it forever. I drew a random arabian-like horse and it DEMANDED to become The Wanderer, who am I to say no?
Thank you, Ashley! I'm happy that you like it

Haha, don't you love when that happens though! Like, the sketch or whatever decides what it wants it to be and you have no choice but to obey?! Haha

Oh, I love it when that happens! Especially when I'm not feeling inspired...
I saw your journal and I totally understand where you're coming from, art-wise. I've been feeling the same way since February, I can never seem to finish anything and even though I have lots of ideas, I'm unable to put them into the paper. It's so frustrating.

Funnily enough, the new MLP series has helped inspire me. Trying out a new style, having fun, just doing some low-key type stuff in a book Dylan sent me Doing this makes me feel like the pressure is off, and I'm really liking what I'm making. I have already posted Fluttershy since it was also a gift, but I'm working on the others and will post them in a week or so when I finally get home and have a scanner

I love pen and ink. It's just got that wonderful antique, found in an old children's book quality to it, and you've done a great job with it. Nice detailing on the face and neck.

I'm really happy with how the face turned out and the left hind leg too
Thank you so much! And I totally agree with you about the old children's book quality.
I have to learn how to do cross hatching properly someday <3
