Description Throwing the Kroggs aside, I've recently completed my Zanatorian Interceptor Swarm. For the model I use Forge World's BFG Dreadclaw assault pods, which work pretty well for a swarm of small robots. Quite cheap too compared to other models. Too bad they are hard to photograph effectively due to their size.

Anyway these guys represent my Scarab swarms and as the name suggest they job is to intercept combat units before they hit my line and take the bullets for more important units like the destroyers and warriors.

So what'ya think?

I agree wit Soul, if they had vertabrae they would look so boss.
But knowing how hard it is to do a good conversion, I understand why you may have choosen not to do so

I like how they are smaller than scarabs and stuff. Or about the same size. And yet I also like how they don't have resemblances to animals. Those stuff are for aliens.

lol
looking at what wordbear said... he said everything i had though of

i sort of thought that they would look awesome if they were more like the small machines in Half life that that try to kill you with their saws

If you're doing this for 40K do mind the template weapons. If this is for something else you may be ok then.

and sgt 6 weapons, trust me I don't expect them to last long.

But then again that's the idea isn't it? To take hits that could've gone to regular squads?

Ok, another idea I just had. They look like just an engine basically, and I just thought how freaky it would be to have a swarm of flying robotic buzz saws chasing after me. So there you go, if you could find a way to add some sort of chainsaw/buzzsaw weapon into the model that would solve the lack of scariness issue I was mentioning.

Again, just throwing ideas around as they come to me.

They each generate a small electrical field which they unleash upon ramming the target. Kind of like the roller mines from half life 2.

Ok, but unless you devise a way to portray that on the models then they will continue to look rather unthreatening. I never played Half life 2 actually, I heard that aside from the cool graphics it was a horrible game.

Well they work, I'd be willing to try to work out an alternative if you want, but I think that these guys work ok. I guess that my only critique is that they seem almost completely non-threatening as they don't have any obvious weapons or other threats. As a thought, one of the main themes used by the mechanicum is the human skull for servo skulls, so maybe a swarm of evil servo skulls would be cool for some of your scarab swarms. Just throwing out ideas mate.

Like I said though, these work.

The Zanatorians are a renegade machine cult that specialises in forbidden technology such as advanced AI.

Their overall goal is to evolve humanity to the next level of evaloution using technology.

Thats the basics for them anyway.
